Is there any hope that armor pieces will at some point look like they're attached to each other and to characters' bodies, or will shoulder/elbow/hip/knee guards forever float in space?
I figure that it they didn't fix the motifs floating with the outfit system, they aren't going to bother. So we'll all just have to shake our heads at the 2nd Era fashion fad that is floating belt buckles.
if you combine them with a matching set piece, they will not float. The position is not calculated dynamically, so the distance to the body is determined by the thickness of the corresponding chest piece.
This avoids unnecessary calculations, that would decrease the performance even further.
For ultrarealistic grafics play soloplayer games with less variables (determined pathways and enemies, not freestyle enemies (human players) like in eso.
I understand that it looks strange to you, I feel the same way, but as a programmer I am astonished nevertheless how detailed the grafics are for a MMO that in addition even supports consoles with less power than current high-end gaming PCs.
"Floating in space" is probably a "margin of safety" to prevent too much clipping. A lot of clothing components already clip with themselves, not to mention gear.
I think a more telling question would be, "do you prefer clipping or armor pieces floating in space"?
I agree and wish we had the option of just eliminating floating tasers, knee guards, etc. Maybe it’s necessary that they appear so from a graphics/performance standpoint, fine, but give us the option to alternatively hide them if we don’t like that look.
