Lets look at the facts. First, their website mysteriously stops functioning on all but the "updating events/news pages" so we have no information whatsoever until a day before. Next, they cancel they entire event because Action Finder is STILL bugged to ***. Now as I recall, previous events have continued and or been extended due to activity finder issues, but never just blanket switched off. This is dispite the event being able to continue via LFG, guild chat or EVEN SOLOING. But noooooo, this time it has to be cancelled.....

And we all know what comes next, those nice shinny styles so many people were/are looking for will be exclusively in the crown store.... new lows, new lows........

I still dont get it why they are pushing the game to be more of Elder Events (online) Offilne rather than fixing the backend problems and let new as well as old player experience the game as functionally as possible.
I'm sure many would prefer a normal functioning game compared to event grinds with so many bugs and broken servers.

It's easier to have events than to fix everything. Less resources to pump out a semi-functional event than to actually fix all of the chronic problems.

Dude, you should pop over to PC EU some time if you think for a microtransactory second that the game was “able to continue” in any way whatsoever.

We could do with the laughs.

Definitely agree here. At this point if they need to get things working as ZOS intended and players expectation and have it run bug free for some time. If they don't then any of game they introduce will have the specter of this failure and will not do well as consumers don't want to shell out bucks on a new game that a Company with such a dismal track record as this.

Yeah, no information at all. Except pretty much everything there is to know about the event because it was already on the PTS months ago.
Next, they cancel they entire event because Action Finder is STILL bugged to ***. Now as I recall, previous events have continued and or been extended due to activity finder issues, but never just blanket switched off.

Yes, because previous events didn't make the game completely unplayable on the EU server.
And we all know what comes next, those nice shinny styles so many people were/are looking for will be exclusively in the crown store.... new lows, new lows........

That's highly unlikely. Players are already pissed off about the utterly embarrassing server performance. Not even Zos would be stupid enough to pour more oil on the fire in a situation like this.

PCEU server & logins overloaded in 30mins from event start. Likely NA would have done same at prime time with no other way to stop it. When the trader multibidding failed and spilled gold all over EU they did manage to avoid that at NA without canceling the bidding.

Well they know that the EU server is overloaded and suffering with so many issues yet they add a F2P event, It's like knowing that the brick wall your building is badly built and ready to collapse but yet you add another 5 rows of brick.

After playing MANY mmo's over the years i have gotten to know that they are just a Buisness and at the end of the day they will do whatever they see fit that earns them the most money, They know that people are addicted and that the i'm going to quit unless (you do this, or fix that) are very rarely carried through.

The events *are* a con these days, but not in the way the OP supposes. Some might find "con" to be too strong of a word, so we can look at it this way. Once upon a time, events were just events. They were simple celebrations of certain bits of in-game content. You participated or you didn't and all the rewards were earned in game or you didn't get them. Then came event tickets, which had an artificial cap placed on them and could later be bought in the cash shop. It allowed players to pay their way to winning event rewards instead of actually playing the game. In sum, they retooled events to drive players into the cash shop instead of just letting events be events.

But to suggest the opal weapon styles are now suddenly going to be cash shop only? Don't be ridiculous. Don't get me wrong - I have absolute faith that $oS will continue to be more and more predatory with its microtransactions in this game. However, if we look at what they've done historically, it has always been subtle, gradually introduced stuff because doing it that way makes many frogs in the pot oblivious to the pot being brought to a boil. While imagining this nonsense, OP, you've missed how this event was already tooled to be an incremental ramp up of the predatory monetization of this game. They put serious limits on earning opal monster pages. Between that and the limited days for the event, they made it effectively impossible to earn all the opal pages yourself during the event. This is the first event where using the cash shop to get the new event cosmetics looks mandatory.

I just came to see snark about how all those undaunted got rekt in City of Ash II (aka the dungeon formerly known as Vet City of Ash) and you have to go rescue them all. I'm leaving, disappointed.

    Well: I feel screwed!
Rejoined ESO+ for the event, otherwise it would run out today for me and my man, so we could run all needed dungeons for stylepages.

And now not even a Message on status?

Probably cancelled so that the new event (another paywalled event) will pull in more eso+ and Elsweyr sales so they can get their 2nd ticket they missed out on...

I dont think it was a con.

But there is sth I dont understand.... Since they already knew their server is weak and that it was 300% certain the game would collapse, why did they launch the event in the first place? And why did they make it so short in length -5 days- and not make it last 10 days, so that people would have more time to do what they want and not rush in the Dungeon Finder from the first second?

    Makes absolutely ZERO sense.

So I'm guessing the real reason for this cancelation is the crown store was not working properly event ticket purchases were messed up otherwise we would be caring on suffering through the dungeon finder and such.

Think about it logically. Why would they code the opal pages, the undaunted boxes, the new festival bxes at the undaunted vendors, AND the impressario if it were a bait and switch?

I'd not expect that much work for a con. The whole point of a con is to get maximum reward for minimum effort possible. If they were going to do something shady, they would have said "uh oh, looks like these pages aren't dropping. Let's take it down to fix it".

With how loud the community is growing over performance issues (especially and deservedly EU, lol) that would have been a far smarter play. Nah, I'm convinced they're just desperately trying to find a band aid till q1 next year when they can fix the real issues.
