It doesn't matter coz world will end next year.

Yes it will as long as they dont eff up more and more with bugs and lag.
    (or greed)

But the pain threshold is seemingly very very high. Which shows to me how loved the game is too.

ESO did not have a road map past the first year of the game and it has managed to even grown (except the past few months) without a road map.

We did not know of the year of the dragon 12 months ago just like we did not know about Summerset 12 months before that. No reason to get concerned about a lack of a road map going out years as it is probably rare game companies provide much information about stuff years out.

I'm worried about the content left. What attarctive zones are left? A part of Skyrim and a part of Cyrodiil. We already had Redguard zones, Argonian, Khajiit zones. Can a new part of Hammerfell or Black Marsh attarct as much players as Summerset or Elsweyr? I doubt. Akavir, daedric planes - sure. But will we ever see Akavir in ESO? I would love to, yet I doubt this mysterious land will be revealed to us...

banning thought is pretty dystopian if you ask me

thinking about the future of something is just as important as reflecting on other things.

maybe you'll see yourself in the future and realize you spent this time in game for nought or something, and bu thinking about it now, you get your life back on track

OP is being more critical that Zos has not told them their plans for the next few years, even though Zos has told us all their high level plans.

So this is not a reflection but really just a non constructive complaint and Zos does close threads they feel are not very constructive though usually if they go off the rails a bit.

I'm surprised they don't explicitly state they don't want this stuff being discussed so they can close it, as opposed to trying to reel it in

For me it's the devs trying to make old content more appealing through nerf's to individual builds and meta hopping that's got me stretch thin.
I just feel like they could've made the adds have more health and do more damage. This would've added the same sustain and damage reduction to the game without causing everyone to reconfigure entire builds and playstyles. Some of use do not have 8 hrs a day to play the game.

There's also the eastern part of Morrowind to be filled in, which notably contains Necrom. Between that and Skyrim and Cyrodiil, there's a few years of content at least.
I agree, the other areas aren't nearly as interesting. We've had enough deserts and swamps.

    Yes ANYTHING can happen!
but it ZOS's case if it involves spending money it wont, so PC/EU will not get any better...

The only road map that is genuinely relevant is ‘Does ZOS intend to keep actively developing/managing/maintaining ESO’

If the money is there to keep a team in place and the servers working (and I use working in its actual meaning, not in the PC EU sense), then everything is fine.

I would imagine that right now, on a game focussed level, ZOS probably know what next year’s expansions will be and a few people are working on storylines, while the dungeon team is working on the basics of the next DLC dungeons. The various combat teams are plodding along doing their thing, but really they have no roadmap that is relevant to the future of ESO.

Players don’t need to know about the content before it’s released. They might be super interested and want to know, but often that is a double edged sword as when the content eventually arrives they feel no joy as all the novelty has been removed. I hate that PTS use by some players means I am expected to know how new content works on day 1, depriving me of the enjoyment of figuring it out for myself.

Players do deserve some idea that there is a longevity built into ZSO’s planning, but that too is a double edged sword as no company is going to say ‘we’re planning to switch the lights off in 2021’... as that would be a proper Gerald Ratner moment (go google it).

The only major company working on an MMORPG that I am aware of is Amazon. Obviously a new entry into the game industry and their planned Lord of the Rings game is expected to be F2P so I am not expecting much from that.

Everything else I have seen is from independents including some crowd sourced games. All are much lower budget and likely shows. I have only seen the beginnings of two of them, one of which Alcast and some others from this game have spent some time playing in their early testing.

Zos is probably safe from new competition for awhile.

People already know whether they're spending time in the game for nought, it's all down to whether they're having fun, and if they aren't then why the heck are they even here? I've never understood people who enjoy something for a few years, then stop enjoying it for some reason and want to sue the company for all the money they spent while they were enjoying it. Simple moral - when it ceases to be fun, stop playing (and therefore paying). Until then you've had your money's worth.

As for ESO, I firmly believe it will be around for a good few years yet. There are several worse games that are still running after the best part of 20 years!

Don't mistake the fact that a roadmap has not been made public to the gaming community for the fact that there is not a roadmap at all. Of course they have one, but there is little point in telling us what is going to happen 18 months from now...just be concerned with the upcoming patch.

I'm betting we will have Skyrim and the idiotic war will end. Expect expansions on the PVE Imperial City and Cyrodil. PVP will continue in the arena system.

ZOS gave us the roadmap in 2017:

    Q1: QoL or 2 dungeons
    Q2: Chapter
    Q3: 2 dungeons
    Q4: tiny zone dlc

    ZOS found their comfort zone.

Who knows tho... we might get something really awesome and innovative announced soon🤞.. If not, expect more of the same over the next 2-3 years.

Minimum effort content with heavy emphasis on the crown-store. Competitively (PvE and PvP) ESO is a dead MMO and there is no reason to salvage that since performance will never be fixed and other MMOs (WoW and FF) are years ahead of dungeon/raid design.
