Performance has not gotten any better. Some might say it's become worse.

Then you have all the changes they are making every patch with no real reasoning. The loss of unique class skills in the effort by zos to enact class identity.

Cost increase to skills, loss of dps, and I'm sure I've missed a lot more.

If you want to come back and check it out for yourself, do it. I'd strongly recommend not subbing until you see how the issues above affect your playstyle.

Cyrodiil at this time zone used to have one bar each alliance in main campaign, now all 3 alliances have 0 bar, you tell me.

I just came back after 8 months. Cyrodiil is still garbage, but that’s where my friends are. And I miss my friends more than I am frustrated with a broken game. So here I’ll be.

I would echo those that seeing for yourself is the only way to know. Asking questions like this on the forums only opens yourself up to biased opinions and odd agendas. I would offer that waiting until around Q2 2020 wouldn't be a bad idea though.

if you like bugs and lag then yes

if you like a bunch of stuff added to the game, then also yes

I cant really complain with all the stuff they're constantly adding, I get hyped every time I see those legion zero motif styles. It reminds me the game was once barren.

ESO: Definitely worth coming back for as an alt game.

ESO+: Absolutely not unless you have to have the pay-walled crafting bag.

Cyrodiil: Don't even bother.

I cancelled my long-standing sub due to everything going on this year, hopefully by next chapter release in May 2020 things will start to go better and I may reconsider then. I wont spend any more money on ESO at all until that point. I am highly doubtful anything will change, only band-aids or temporary better performance due to population swings---but no ACTUAL fix for the performance and bug-riddled game we have 5+ years on. I want to support this game 100%, and I have, but in the many years I have done so, the devs haven't supported the player base the way they should have. They are great people IRL, but neglectful and non-proactive as developers imho. Too little, too late for me.

The lag and desync is absolutely unbearable on xbox atm its *** ridiculous.

Class balance is pretty good at the moment but the servers are quite bad.... I like BGs so I’m fine but Cyrodiil is eh...

Worth trying for the first time? Sure. Worth coming back if ongoing game issues pushed you away in the first place? No.

@Lord_Eomer all camps are dead on pc NA with the exception of the main cp faction locked camp.
The last few patches have had a negative effect on the playerbase. Overtuning dots one patch, then nerfing them the next patch. Changes to class specific skills in an effort to produce class identity, sustain and damage nerfs, etc.

I resubbed last week and hadn't played since the Elsweyr expansion came out.

If you're into PvP, the game is not worth coming back to as performance is worse than it has ever been. Cyrodiil is an absolute unenjoyable lagfest and Battlegrounds is nothing more than staring at loading screens 7 out of 10 times.

So after giving this a week I can say it has been a very frustrating experience.

For PvP, I don't know, but since PvPer still QQing every day on forum, probably not.
For PvE, Elsweyr is beautiful, story are good and dragon.
For server performance, well, it's stil ZoS so..
That said for player with Ryzen core like me it's better, since last patch I can finally push all video setting to max w/o losing many fps !

So, it depend, it's still a very good game, but it also still need to fix many bug and server issue if they want to keep player in with the new MMORPG that are coming current 2020.

Why did you resub without knowing what you're jumping into? Not only are you wasting money, if you're primarily into PvP, but you're also letting Zenimax know that what they're doing is completely fine.

As the old saying goes,...... if you have to ask, then no. Realistically it cost nothing to try since you do not need a subscription to play so the best answer is simple give it a go and see if you are enjoying your normal play in a MMO.
