Playing on patch day for PC has always been a bit of a gambit, with half our addons not updated yet and the servers melting. So I guess we should be thanking ZOS for saving us the frustration?

I see many posts about bugs, QA and how this is the saddest thing in 2020.
I think the saddest thing is how people can rage on and on about an "Industry" they can't even grasp properly.

QA is generally useless because they are doomed to be. Proper high quality QA is done trough Automated tests, those has to be maintained/updated by the Engineers along with the development.
This sounds fairly easy if you think about it far-far away in your comfy chair, but in reality this almost never happens due to various workflow, tools, inheritance and project related issues, that almost always require some custom solution tailored toward the project you are working on.
Manual QA is bad because you can't hire people with the required knowledge to properly test and debug something. Any decent QA Engineer will work on high complexity performance tests that are indeed engineer work. Manual QA is something that is unreliable and often just yields with false reported issues that will reduce productivity

The fact that the users are the primary tool to find bugs is indeed a fact. Interestingly most of you does not even bother about the continuously released security fixes for your browser, operating system or for the platform what your Bank uses to provide online banking solutions to you. This is not about the gaming industry or about ZOS, if you'd take your time and have a real look on this industry, that is way bigger than just gaming, you'd see that what's happening today is far away from the saddest thing.

Truth is everyone who works in this industry has at least one GIF for a "release"

I simply hope they are trying to grow their Engineer base (learning takes time) so they will have more resource on bug fixing in the future.

So don't get mad, lay back and chill until the servers are online

After all these hours, all we get to see is a short, low res video, and then the server boots us off.

As a software developer myself: how are they generous in the USA! In my country our whole team would have been axed as of today for such a... "performance".
