No Change to Maelstrom DW?

Zos in 5.2.2: "Many passives and item sets related to Damage over Times will receive some adjustments to ensure their total power remains closer to their intended power budget."

Maelstrom DW originally boosted weapon damage by 2000 on the next dot. It was reduced to 1000 due to the strength of dots in the last patch. Given their quote about adjusting item sets related to dot damage, I'm surprised maelstrom DW was not improved.

Maelstrom weapons have been hard earned by many players in the last two months. I hope they take a look at this set and consider a buff if warranted (after people test it this week)

Nope. I would rather not have it as BiS. As long as it is BiS, even non-dot classes like stamblade and stamden gets forced to play like one by dropping identity skills like Surprise Attack.

Dont think the OP was asking to make it BiS even though it essentially was initially. Still they can buff it to the point that it isn't BiS for all stam specs but still pretty competitive for single target DoT centric classes. That would be a lot better. Will that happen though? /shrug

They reprogrammed it too, remember? It wasn't as simple as a straight nerf.

It's BiS for single target fights. vSS favors 2h IMO

That was quality of life improvement in cast order, but a DPS nerf. The fact that it was a damage nerf was well tested and established.

Before you used Flurry Dot Flurry Dot etc. Now you can do flurry dot dot dot. Honestly for people skilled with rotations, it hardly had an impact.

Also, I'm not looking to make maelstrom DW BiS again. Just wondering how it will stack up and I hope it's still competitive.

    That's not true.

Those daggers have been nerfed 3 times I think, wasn't it originally 4k weapon damage?, then 2k, now 1k, I think a slight buff wouldn't hurt too much atm.

vMA DW isn't BiS anymore though, right? With the changes to DoTs, despite the buffs here, we have moved back towards what we at with Elswry launching, yes?

    Yes most likely.

However, there are some classes that benefited more from maelstrom DW and the set staying viable would be a nice option for them.

    Examples:
Stamsorc due to the lack of a class spammable - you might as well have flurry buff your dots if you're using flurry
Stamcro - For anyone who hated the blastbones rotation, the maelstrom rotation was a welcome change

Yeah most of the stamblades I know were using monster helms and surprise attack this patch
