I have not played in awhile and came back to see if there is anything to do. I went to the top 5 websites of top Dragonknight tanks which is what I play and after all this time my gear is still Meta, so nothing to do there, I thought well I could hunt for sweet mounts but can't seem to find any other tan cash shop, I have a sheet ton of gold but can't find anything to spend it on like mounts or other cool stuff, The trials make me laugh because they give you gear that the bonus only helps in the trial that I already completed to get the gear to help in the trial I already completed to get the gear....you see where I am going with this, so no real reason for that.
So I run around the world killing stuff to watch it fall over...well that is kinda boring, so my question is what am I suppose to do at this point? Where do I go to find outstanding stuff or rare items? Help me find a reason to play. And trying other builds is even worse I have a build that can do everything so a new build to do everything is really redundant.

I understand that they want to sell loot boxes, because of the big money cash grab it brings in but they could put a few things in game to go after, I check there public record financials for last year and they did very well for themselves, so they could throw a bone.

Trial gear is effective in all content, it is extra effective in dungeons, trials and arenas. That is quite useful.

If you have completed every dungeon on normal and vet and hard mode, every trial on normal and vet etc, all arenas on normal and vet, managed no death speed runs across this content, taken out every world boss, all delvs and public dungeons, completed the hundreds of ours of story, have all the gear you want in gold with optimised enchants and traits, have a house pimped and looking awesome...

Then there wont be much left for you unless, like so many of us, you simply enjoy playing ESO with like minded people for the sheer enjoyment of the game play, the customisation, the rich story and lore, the escapism, the community.

I mean, make a new character. I have 15. Some have 50. The process of theory crafting and learning a new class/race, the build, the look etc, the farming of the gear you want etc... this is one of the main things in ESO I enjoy.

So complete all of that to watch stuff fall over or is there new stuff that you can get like mounts?

Well, if you like decorating houses, you can spend a pile of gold on that (both the houses, and the furniture for them. Plus unlocking other furniture via getting achievements).
Mount-wise.... you'd need to investigate how to do it properly/safely, but they added "crown gifting" to the game a while back, and people starting 'selling' crown items to other players that way. You could blow your pile of gold that way, and get an (ugly) mount.

The trials make me laugh because they give you gear that the bonus only helps in the trial that I already completed to get the gear to help in the trial I already completed to get the gear....you see where I am going with this, so no real reason for that.

Seems the same as raiding always was in earlier games I've played - raid to get better gear... that you only need for raiding faster. /shrug

"Run around and grind the same stuff over & over, sometimes on a new class/build" is kind of a big part of MMOs. Though I suppose this game has a few less "rare farmables" that, say, WoW did. (let's go kill a billion whelps to hope for a whelp pet drop! And 600 billion Yetis to get rep for a Wintersaber mount! /headdesk)

There's a few rare pets that you can farm in public dungeons (have to collect all the parts, then combine them. from what I understand.)

The lack of rare things to farm for, existed long before the loot boxes.

I started a new toon for the Elsweyr chapter. A Khajiit Necromancer, because why not. With her, I plan to do the story line in as much order as possible, actually going to 100% zones. Many of these quests I've done multiple times, but it's still fun to explore, to harvest nodes, etc. Saving up gold to buy a house I've wanted for a long time, farming the recipes and materials to furnish it.

So, perhaps, look into things like this. Have you 100% all zones? Interested in buying a house or becoming a Master Crafter? Plenty of things to do out there.

I'm really suprised to read such a question. This is the Elder Scrolls! Ok, here is a good puzzle for you to keep you busy there ;): go find this mer or at least any trace of his presence out there. Details and directions of search are here, so good luck! If you find anything related to him, all the thanks will be directed to you.

Get into a guild and do Vet Trials, or Hard Mode Vet Trials. If your tank is already doing that and it quite capable of completing it all, make a Healer or Dps that is capable of doing Vet and Vet Hard Mode

There is a ton to do in this game. One, you can now gift crown store items to other players, so you can pay other players gold in exchange for crown store items (no, it's not against the ToS, and do be careful and only do this with people you trust).

You can start raiding, since there is new content. You can explore the new 4 person content. There are some fun new mechanics in them and cool monsters sets to be gained.

There are new maps to explore with some cool rewards. You can actually get a full house just by playing the new Elseweyr content, and spend some of that gold decking it out in things that will aid your game play (attunable crafting stations, target dummies, Mundus Stones from Crown store gifting, etc). There are new collectibles, tons of new armor styles (fashion scrolls online OP), and new skins to be gained. PvP has changed a bit and there is a new addition to it. Jury's still out on that one, but it's definitely interesting.

Don't let these negative buttholes ruin the game with their sad moaning and groaning. It's still fun, if in need of a little combat overhaul.

right now I'm trying to get Flawless Conqueror and I absolutely hate Vet MA tho but I only died 3 times yesterday and I'm kicking myself for not doing it last patch or within the last year but If I don't get it soon I probably never will seeing as my main gets nerfed every patch. I used to do vet trials and was on a pretty good team but with these drastic skill changes every three months its really impossible to get a steady group or even really care about you dps rotation and gear.

if I happen to get Flawless anytime soon I'll probably finish up the DLC fishing achievements and relax maybe do some vet trial occasionally with guildies if they need an extra guy

I did that very thing when I started last year. First toon I started from the original zones and did all the quests etc and then moved to the next. After all that I started raiding etc but ran into the doing the raids to get better gear so I could raid more loop. Not into PVP, Housing or Fishing. I had two toons by that time and they both got large nerf bats so quit. I've been trying to find a reason to play like this poster is but haven't so far. Came back for Elsewyr completed it then left.

It's a great game I love the lore, the zones look great, the attention to detail in the scenery is awesome. But then came Elsweyr with the locked houses so I fear newer zones will be even worse. I suppose I'll resub at some point and maybe just run all the zones again with a newby toon.

You could do the events for tickets... & a year or so later you might get enough to get a shiny new mount that you will ride for 15mins then go back to your regular mount ;)

You can open "Achievements" in your journal & see if any of the rewards (titles & skins etc..) take your fancy.

But for a tank that wants to tank & has lost the urge for dungeons & trials... you want some PVP! :D

    Nothing.
    In this game you basically:
Play the new PvE instances when they come out to get what you need and there's no point doing them again.
Play PvP until you are bored of the Red v Yellow v Blue mute enemy players in a giant battleground with no real sense conquering.

The total focus on group rather than guild gameplay due to instancing makes it boring after a bit.
