Yes, if you buy it or pay a sub. Not even close to the free event of Midyear Mayhem we were supposed to get for this berry.

You can buy access to the dungeon with crowns so that makes your previous point of not even being able to buy Elseweyr with crowns mute. Obviously this means you have access to crowns.

Notice the “even” as in, my lowest expectations for the replacement of a free event are barely being met.
You can’t even use crowns because it’s a glorified dlc “chapter”

You can buy crowns with ingame gold and then get access to the dungeon. Therefore it is still free.

Ah yes, lest we forget crowns come from thin air. As if every crown sale does not involve ZOS making money.

You know, they are a company. They do games and its content for living. Do you work for free??

This crying all the time cuz not everything in the game is for free is really pathetic already.

If you really want to do this event that much, 450k gold should not be problem. Because that's the standard gold price for 1500 crown dungeon DLC. You can even get it cheaper if you are lucky with the dealer.

    The INJUSTICE!!!!

Its a good marketing technique. With the upcoming release they're trying to get people playing, especially in light of several bad combat patches. Do you want us to be shocked that they have events to maintain eso or going to try and make a profit?

If you miss the event, which most people have skipped or missed events, you can relax. You are missing out on a reshaded mount.

Well, what do you guys want? they cram everything in the basegame? How boring would that be. Regular expansions are absolutely fine for doing that stuff.
DLC on the other hand is a different story.

I dont even play this sad excuse of a game anymore. But this I can understand.

    NOW you figure that out?
Remember, ZOS is in the business of... making a -profit-! So, duh, they will make events that require you to spend money on their game to complete - either by subbing, or by buying some DLC, or... yes, indeed, even by buying an expansion no matter if you subbed or not.

Don't like it? Well, then do without the goodies. Duh!
(and yes, I haven't bothered with several of the events lately... you don't really need them all, you just can do the ones you feel you wanna try for!)

Glad I forgone a few Latte's at Starbucks for 30 days, and was able to buy Elsweyr, eliminating this problem for me completely.

Cant really complain, game upkeep and development ain’t free. If you don’t want to play you don’t have to. There are plenty of great single player TES games to play. I mean, last event they literally gave out a Dlc for free to all players and usually align free eso plus/free to play weeks with events so more people can participate. One event that will give up to 200,000$ to charity in a new zone and everybody looses their minds. There are still 3 more events to get the last berry from left in the year.

100% agree. They make plenty of money off subscriptions and crown sales, and to be clear I have no problem with games charging for cosmetics or charging subscription fees or offering currency for real world dollars. That's not what this is.

I won't be participating because I don't support poor behavior from gaming companies. It's psychological warfare meant to terrorize players into purchasing goods they may not be able to afford or want, to avoid the fear of losing out and the dismay of having wasted their earlier efforts. That is point blank heinous, predatory, and also illegal in some parts of the world.

The sad thing is that had they not done resorted to such abhorrent tactics I would have 100% bought Elswyer. It had been my intention to purchase it when it went on sale, and having an event that donates to animal charities is right up my alley. I'm so upset that Bethesda and ZOS had to *** in the water like this. I don't condone this sort of predatory behavior, so now I'm forced to never purchase Elswyer because of this. You can't consume something once it's covered in ***. It's a huge disappointment to me, though I doubt very much the loss of my single sale will effect the company in the slightest.

And to the individuals saying that previous events for tickets required DLC. Yes, you are correct. However, every single one of them was paired with an ESO+ trial weekend so that players who can't afford to purchase DLC would be able to participate in the community event. That bare minimum of a token gesture is what saved them from community outrage during those last events. Five day trial, two tickets per day, exactly enough to get a berry. They've effectively cut out everyone who lives on a fixed income and everyone who is too young to work. This means that the disabled, the elderly, and children cannot participate in this event. It's bad form from the company, bad PR, and bad choices.

And to be clear, I'm not opposed to event itself. I think it's lovely, and having chapter specific events at the end of the year for unique swag is fine. The entire part that spoils the whole thing is having tied the Indrik event to this one. Had they run this event without having the Indrik's tied to it then they would not be getting the sort of backlash they are getting. I imagine they cost themselves a lot of sales because of that choice.

This is the last chance to get the final Onyx Berry. Until they sell it in the store anyway, as they seem to imply with recent comment about exclusivity of Indriks.

The next four events are for the white indrik

My main problem is understanding why anybody would put in all the effort to earn berries for that butt ugly Indrik. Making it another color is like putting lipstick on a pig. :/

The indriks aren't very impressive in my opinion, so I could easily live without the event tickets. But that treasure trove for your house looks pretty awesome. Add that to the 50% discount - and it makes for a very tempting offer. It worked like a charm on me.

Of course, ZOS didn't give players the courtesy of a heads-up...

I agree with you that it would have been a nice gesture to publish details beforehand (quaterly or even yearly). Considering that most people don't read or plan ahead anyway, it wouldn't have cost ZOS a lot and would have gone along way towards trust.

because I agree with that too :

Goodwill and trust is important capital for generating future sales.

    ... but that's in theory.
In reality, if a business behaves fairly, there's still an X percentage of people who whine & buy nonetheless, a Y percentage of people who whine about something else instead, and a Z percentage who actually buy based on increased goodwill and trust. And guess what ? X & Y are really high, and Z is really low...

The DLC is literally only 20$ right now.

This may come as a shocker, but yes, events that revolve around the year-long DLC actually require you to have the year-long DLC.....

I personally don't mind that this event is in a Chapter zone, because I have all of the DLCs and Chapters on the NA PC server.

But I can understand why some people are miffed about it.

I was a little miffed about the Clockwork City event, because that's just a DLC, and DLCs that you buy through the in-game Crown Store are available only on the server where you bought them, so that meant I couldn't participate in the Clockwork City event on the EU PC server. Sure, I could have signed up for the "ESO+ free trial" so I could participate, but I didn't feel like it. Why not? Frankly, my reasons aren't important. All that really matters is that I chose not to participate in the Clockwork City event on the EU PC server because that DLC isn't available to me on that server. And even though I was a little miffed about it, I chose not to let it bother me, because my gaming on the EU PC server will always be secondary to my gaming on the NA PC server.

In contrast, Chapters and DLC bundles that are purchased through Bethesda or (in my case) Steam are available on both the NA and EU servers, so that meant I wasn't shafted(?) out of all the other events that took place in Morrowind, Summerset, Wrothgar, Hew's Bane, the Gold Coast, Cyrodiil, and the Imperial City.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
