Anyone in pts know how engulfing flames is calculated? 5.2.0 was 333 spell damage for 1%. 5.2.2 says it now uses both stats so how does that work?

According to my tests, it's somewhat like every 599 spell damage is 1% and every 6260 magicka is 1%. These are rough estimations from my tests.

    between 35k - 36k magicka = 10% damage

That’s good for flexibility, an all around good change.

So in short a DK tank should hit 6-7% without any trouble?

6% are without any adjustments to your common setup. If you switch your one-hander to Nirnhoned and somehow get to have Major Sorcery, you will get to 7%.

Speaking of engulfing flames: Did anyone else notice how much time it takes from activating the skill to actually showing the animation? There's always a delay though there is no cast time it feels like one.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.

That's where the scary and taboo word of Animation canceling comes to mind. If you use the ability, then immediately block/weapon swap/dodge roll/bash then the effect applies quicker than if you allow the animation to play.

It's the same for Wall of Elements, and several other abilities.

Thats the point, on this skill im always to early with the block, and cancel the whole
skill. Like it would have a cast time.

    Hey guys,

I know this is an old post, but I just noticed my tooltip on engulfing.
I run elemental succession so the extra damage isn't taken into account, i don't think...
I have 38K magicka and 2752 SD when my glyph is up... I only seem to get 9% on my tooltip

Any one know why? surely 38K magicka is enough to give me 10%

The "cast time" feeling you are experiencing is likely because the ability acts like a ground placed aoe cone. Similar abilities have a halt of sorts before they work, for instance breath of life, fungal growth(shrooms), necro scythe.

What is interesting is that if you happened to press your roll dodge key during this halt you would be considered standing still even while holding "w" which would cause your character to roll backwards. (Avoidable by using double tap roll)

Elemental Succession doesn't add damage to your character where the calculation is probably being handled. It adds damage to the ability, so that makes sense to me.

Thanks for replying, I do appreciate it.
I stated in my op I was aware succession wasn't accounted for, but I am wondering why 38k magicka isn't enough to buff it to 10%?

38k magicka will increase your Englufing tooltip by 6%. We don't know exact number but it is very close to 6260 magicka = 1% of engufling tooltip.
