In the new pts notes, they say that dot were getting a 20% buff after the nerf, relating to roughly 30% in nerfs to damage, is that right? If so, for skills like wall of elements that got a 30 percent nerf, what would it be at if their still expecting a 30 percent nerf after the buff?

    It's an AOE dot, so it will probably not be considered for a buff. ZOS wants to move away from powerful AOEs, so it is back to Tank and Zerg meta 🤔

    I, too, am confused about how the dot damage is calculated and I'm skeptical about the 5.2.2 patch notes when they state that dots will be about 33% weaker than they currently are on Live.

    For example, in 5.2.0, Twin Slashes got a damage reduction of 63%.
    Let: Dpts = PTS damage as of 5.2.0
    Dlive = Live damage
    Then,
    Dpts = (1-.63)*Dlive = 0.37*Dlive
    Correct?

    The 5.2.2 patch notes suggest that dots will receive a buff of approximately 20% compared to 5.2.0. Does that mean:
    Dpts = (1-.63+.2)*DI = 0.57*Dlive
    Dpts = 57% Dlive
    Or
    Dpts = 1.2*(1-.63)*DIive = 0.444*Dlive
    Dpts = 44% Dlive
    ?

    Either way, I'm not sure how either of those calculations get you to 33% less damage compared to Live. Maybe ZOS considers 44% to 57% as "approximately" 33%?

    Also, if you read the 5.2.0 patch notes:

    "Adjusted the standards from Damage over Time abilities to no longer deal approximately 2.5x the damage of a traditional “spammable” attack, such as Force Shock or Lava Whip, and now deal approximately 1.25x the damage over their duration. Specific changes will be listed in the skill line section..."

    And then consider the 5.2.2 patch notes where dots are planned to be buffed by 20%, then you are left with more questions. Does that mean:
    (1.25x damage) + (0.2x damage) = 1.45x damage
    Or
    (1.25x damage)*1.2 = 1.5x damage

    Again, I'm wondering how the statement that dots should be about 33% weaker than Live makes sense with these maths. Does anyone else see the discrepancy here? I'd love if the devs could comment on this, because it seems like either black magic or false/erroneous information.

    There are different nerfing pattern from patch note V 5.2.0

    Actually we don't know what ZOS said about 20% buff after nerf , we don't have exact number .

    Say for examples

    Lightning Splash:
    Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
    Increased the base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
    Reduced the damage per tick by approximately 33%.

    Spear Shards:
    This ability and its morphs now last 10 seconds, up from 8.
    Increased the base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
    Reduced the damage per tick of the Damage over Time portion of this ability and the Luminous Shards morph by approximately 53%
    Blazing spear (morph): Increased the initial hit damage of this ability by 10%, but decreased the damage over time by approximately 59% per tick.

    Solar Barrage:
    Increased the duration of this morph to 8 seconds, up from 6.
    Decreased the damage per tick by approximately 30%.

    Sun Fire:
    Fixed an issue where the Major Prophecy from this ability and its morphs would only occur if you dealt damage, rather than upon activation, as the tooltip states.
    Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
    Increased the base cost to 2970, up from 2376.
    Decreased the Damage over Time of these abilities by approximately 60% per tick.

    Restoring Light
    Cleansing Ritual:
    Ritual of Retribution (morph): Reduced the damage per tick of this morph by approximately 33%.
    Restoring Focus: Fixed an issue where this ability was unable to be cast while silenced.
    Rite of Passage: Fixed an issue where this ability could cause health desyncs when used while taking heavy damage.

    Swarm:
    Increased the cost of this ability and its morphs to 2970 to encapsulate their new functionalities.
    These abilities now apply Minor Vulnerability to the target for the duration of the DoT.

    Gripping Shards:
    Winter’s Revenge (morph): Decreased the damage per tick of this morph by approximately 33%.

    Wall of Elements:
    Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
    Increased base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
    Reduced the damage per tick by approximately 32%.
