Did you assume that from the Brigadier in my sig? Yes I PvP but I main PvE, PvP is just when I get bored.

There are more people now than 2 years ago. You're just pigeon-holed into a portion of the community who may be leaving, but there are new people to take their place that you just haven't met yet.

There is always someone is end-game raiding moaning that the game is dying out because end-game raid teams are shrinking, but they never see the teams of newer players starting to prog the harder content. Those newer players will replace the moaning guy and his friends soon, and become the new end-game crowd. Same goes with PvP.

This. I've watched the Raiding community throw a tantrum and claim that their view was the only valid one, and they were leaving, for 5 years now.

And, new groups keep coming back in to replace them. The more things change, the more they stay the same. If the toxic swarm who've been crying about these nerfs are anything to go by, nothing of value will be lost this time.

    Just come play WoW Classic.

I always laughed about wow and trash talked it. Then one friend of my former raid team on ESO convinced me to at least try it.
We both uninstalled ESO and play classic now. It is actually great. No damn cash shop in your face. No stupid changes every few weeks, Barely any bugs. Your class skills actually work. "Overland" is actually hard and you can die pretty easily.
No *** random cash grab loot boxes at all.
    Its great.
Combat might be a little slow. But it will get better the more you level. Still, a good trade off for a game that actually works. And where Cheaters and bots actually get banned.
And you can spice it up playing on a pvp server if that is your thing. For some open world pvp battles to break up the questing.

And the community at least in classic is fairly friendy. Havnt seen many "wow Kiddies" yet. And I play it for a little over 3 weeks.

Currently Barrens chat for the past 4 weeks.

There are not 13.5 million active players in this game, not even close, 100k daily, unique logins across all platforms would be more realistic.
Steam show more than 20K steam players at once at peak, This should indicate 100K steam players login in daily.
Remember US and EU is bundled and EU and US peak is not the same time.
Steam is an faction of the PC player base.
My guestimate is 1 mill unique logins, probably a bit below but way more than 100K.
    Last 30 Days 12,377.1 -946.9 -7.11% 23,437
    September 2018 12,422.6 -2,155.1 -14.78% 22,288

    https://steamcharts.com/app/306130
Last year had lots of fluctuation, probably because of events or free play.
40 on most active players on steamcharts.

It beats FF 14, FF 14 is generally seen as larger than ESO but shows that Steam is an niche here.

However I agree that current trends with idiotic jojo changes and nerfs is bad for the game and we will se an these numbers shrink in the next quarter.
Not dying but probably change of combat team. Next might be worse however.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Eso was at its peak January of this year and around April, having 33k active players at a given time on just the steam metric alone (so there is more). This number is similar to that of the population it has during One Tamriel and when ESO dropped subscription only access.

Eso has been a lot more steady with the usual cycles of quarterly releases with its population, they've had a hard time breaking their past record and keeping their pop at a high, however, they also are far from being as low as they were from previous year.

Why that is, is another topic and subjective, which I'll wont go into because I don't know.

What I do know is that it's normal for the population to decline during Q3 and Q4, every year. While I do think, they will be able to maintain a higher low than normal before the next year.

For real? I had enough of that grindy crap back when it was just WoW. Not going back to that mindless grindfest that has the same bugs that it had back then. All those years and they couldn't even fix them on rerelease? Now that is actually bad dev work.

Not a lot. Many of the ESO players currently revisiting a time when WoW was at its peak enjoyment level before its trivialisation are still playing ESO and still subscribing to it, myself included. They may be playing less, but it's not a reflection on ESO and it's very likely (an absolute certainty in my case) purely temporary. A lot of initially full servers on WoW Classic are already medium population, exactly as foreseen by those who predicted that nostalgia for the old days in WoW would only last for so long.

No MMO operates in a vacuum, and any new release has an effect on other more established games, just as ESO has impacted on WoW over the past few years. More recently there has been an increase in the number of WoW players coming here, and it's hardly surprising that some of them have gone back for a look at WoW Classic. They'll mostly be back before long. I've noticed this week that I'm already spending more time in ESO again than I was the last 2 or 3 weeks.

I love the dlc dungeon mechanics! <3<3<3

I feel like these new ones are visually stunning and have some really fun and unique new mechanics, as well as plenty of older, more familiar ones. As much as i might *** and moan about the rest of the game, I have zero complaints about the dungeon designers and the art team. Both are top notch.
