Vet MHK... the boss before last where your dps can 't kill the add that changes into a werewolf and wrecks everyone before it changes.

Up until that point, you can clear everything with a slow burn low dps group... and then you've wasted your time.

25-30k generally is considered good enough for most all vet dungeons including some DLC HM's. Anything more is icing on the cake. DPS checks are real but players not knowing mechanics kill PuG groups more than sub par DPS output, imo.

I totally agree. I've been in many failed PUGs where all it would have taken to win the fight is for the group to adjust to mechanics a little bit. I'm not talking about anything drastic here. Just kill a few of the adds or move out of the stupid or have somebody, ANYBODY run up and interrupt the boss when he's got the tank in a twenty second long one shot attack. Hell, maybe just resurrect the other DPS or the damn healer after he got killed instead of spending the next THREE MINUTES relying on the tank's heals to spill over onto you!

    But no.

Instead there was nothing but "Durr, me dps boss more. He no die, you fault. You no dps good." :confounded:

And people wonder why it takes so long to get a tank in the dungeon finder.

There should be a mastery system like warframe had where if you couldn't do mechanics or kill the things in allotted times or sneak properly or do certain things you couldn't progress until you learnt

Myself and others have noticed a rough time lately with pugs, and after much debate it comes down to the game not really teaching well for lowbie and new players. This is unfortunate.

Example, I was healing a vet EH2 yesterday on a couple week old Warden healer.. lol this is considered very, very easy or face roll content by the time you get to progression into dlc trial HMs. Well... Group dps was 11k, and I doing 28% just with wall of elements. Obviously it didn't clear, and costed an hour. Next queue, same dungeon minutes later, healed a speed run, no death, hm, and conquerer in one go with a different group. This kind of thing is happening A LOT lately.

I'm no elitist, heck I have much to improve myself, but the game has a gigantic gap that doesn't teach players how to be ready for increasingly difficult content.
Longtimer since beta, the usual. 26 CP toons. ~1700cp on main account, 1000cp on 2nd account. Endgame-ish lol. Most Vets / some HM's cleared.

You can clear all base vet dungeons with 15 to 20k. Vet 2 dungeon base can be a little tougher to PUG. Learning the mechanics to the dungeons will get you further than quick burns. DLC dungeons I would say 25k and above is good with solid tanks and healers. Obviously higher dps is great! But if I’m going with speed runs, no death, ect — I do not PUG. But for the casual player without being too sweaty just aim between 15k to 20k and you’ll complete almost all content. Just learn the mechanics and find a guild or person willing to teach them. Most of all have fun!

I agree, as an MR27 who's been through them all :p That said you don't know the amount of people in WF who complain about this system because they struggle even with unlimited practice runs beforehand and blame the game, then they sometimes quit the game, which is never good. It's a very tough problem to solve. It's actually slightly easier in ESO because they actually mix experienced players in with the inexperienced who will make it easier.

Personally I think the game should do a better job of laying on mechanics. It does say things on the bottom sometimes like "The Boss is doing x" and that's your cue to do a mechanic - but it could be a little more specific and hand holdy for the new guys. Normal should teach the mechanics - Vet is where you should have to execute them without error.

Just having better tips during the fights would go a long way to helping vets help lower levels through, and it alleviates any frustration and bad feelings that would come from a mandatory test.
