Engulfing Flames (morph): This morph’s bonus Flame Damage taken now scales off your Spell Damage; 1% for every 333 Spell Damage you have, up to a maximum of the original 10%.

Engulfing Flames is a strong skill for MagDK in PvP and did not over or underperform however next patch it will fall short and will most likely be replaced on my bars. Coupled with the nerf to its DoT damage (which was already lacklustre in Scalebreaker compared to other DoTs) and the increase in cost (for the second patch in a row) and now the change to the increase flame damage scaling with spell damage.

Reaching the max spell dmg required to use this skill to its max effectiveness is difficult and requires you to stack specifically into spell dmg in order to use it. This ruins build diversity as many builds that stacked max Magicka or spell pen are no longer as viable as you will not gain the full effectiveness out of this skill.

My suggestion would be to lower the required amount of spell damage required to reach the maximum of 10% (perhaps to 200 or even 250). This would allow MagDKs to continue using this skill in PvP and still gain the full benefit out of it.

If the objective is allowing MagDKs to be more effective than tank DK's, then this skill should scale both with SD and max magicka, this opens more possibilities for both PvE and PvP MagDK builds.

In short, it should basically scale with the tooltip damage.

I agree. I also don’t see this change encouraging more PvE raids to bring MagDKs into their roster. I don’t do much PvE or know anything about the meta but I would think they would just continue to bring DK tanks for the engulfing buff and accept the loss of damage.

That's just another example of nice idea but bad implementation.

Dk tank can just switch from decisive 1h to nirnhoned. That way you have 1535 spell damage from your weapon and 129 from Minor Courage. Amplified by Minor and Major Sorery, that brings you to 2163 spell damage which makes 6% engulfings. If you are able to grab Major Courage you have 2499 which is 7% engulfings. Considering that magDK was always a dot heavy class and it's main strength got erased, I am pretty sure that good groups will just make tanks wear Nirnhoned one-handers, accept 7% engulf instead of 10% and forget about magDKs.
