Business Model Question

Scalebreaker brought us the ability to purchase certain skill lines. This was great, since it gave the player base a way to spend money to either gain a skill line quickly, keep up with their other friends who have more playtime, or just make a new character quickly, rather than spending time. If players had done this in Scalebreaker specifically to gain the new, single target DoTs in the Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, etc, they now read PTS 5.2.0 notes and most likely have a serious case of buyer's remorse. I know I would.

The very next patch (5.2.0) in it's current form is set to cut the effectiveness of the DoTs from those skill lines in half. Or worse.

I get that you have a rather detailed and significant plan for balance in the game, but if your business model is to sell skills when they're powerful and then turn around 4 months later and water them down, rethink it. "Bait and switch" will not increase crown store sales.

I never felt that the option to buy Mages Guild skill line was to get dots. Sure there is one dot but honestly this skill line was allways about passives.
Community wanted an option to instantly level up certain skill lines and ZOS gave us what we wanted. Now people are accusing ZOS of baiting people and some schemes. It is rather unfair.

The skill lines are still free if you play the game.

Buying the skill lines fron the Crown Store is paying to skip playing the game. Of course ZOS was going to charge players for them whether the skills were meta or not.

    Both fair points.

Either way, when people purchase something and it's value is diminished by the seller quickly thereafter they're not very likely to buy it again.
