The ~50% nerfs across the board on DoT's are comically ridiculous, and are hard to see as anything other than an open admission of incompetence. Changes of this magnitude don't happen unless somebody screwed up.

If you want to nerf DPS, nerf light attacks. Weaving is the number one cause of the DPS gap between casuals and elite players, and it is highly susceptible to server performance problems, so light attacks are, objectively speaking, the smartest target for nerfing.

    Entropy:
This ability and the Structured Entropy morph no longer grant Major Sorcery.
Decreased the damage dealt of all 3 versions of this ability by 50%.
Reduced the base cost of these abilities to 2700, down from 2970.
Degeneration (morph): This morph no longer grants Magicka back when hitting an enemy affected by the Damage over Time, but continues to grant Major Sorcery for its original duration.

This ability was literally just changed last update.
ZOS removed the passive +7% health while slotted from the Structured Entropy ability in Update 23.
Now ZOS is removing Major Sorcery from Structured Entropy. It is a Mage's Guild ability. No more Major Sorcery. Seriously?

Fine. But please refund me my skill points, then. This skill is now useless. Again.
What ways can Magicka Templars receive Major Sorcery now, besides from potions? :/

Also, @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_BrianWheeler @ZOS_Gilliam it would have made greater logical sense to give free respecs after Update 24 instead of giving them after Update 23 when ZOS just changed many skills again in Update 24 anyway.
The time window between Update 23 and Update 24 is so small, so what was the point in giving free respecs in Update 23 but not for Update 24? Ludicrous.

You can't have Dots doing less than 250% of DD. How are is this a new concept to any RPG?

You're waiting 8, 10, 12 or 14 seconds for something to do damage compared to what you do in a single DD ability. That DoT has to be easily over double damage.

I think there was a bug when you calculated what was over performing. No one was complaining about AOE dots. You had already nerfed them, you didn't need to put the nail in the coffin by nerfing even harder and making them cost more. Players were complaining about over tuned ranged single and multi-target dots that were unblockable and undodgeable (Ex: Soul trap and Entropy ). AOE DOTs were fine as you can just roll/move out of them. I know it's probably wishful thinking but please reconsider this. Your not hurting your top elite players much with this, They can still pull 70k dps and beat all your trials with ease. What your doing is seriously nerfing your more casual and less skilled players especially in PvE, making it extremely difficult if not impossible for them to ever beat harder content, leading to more aggravation, frustration, and people quitting. As mentioned before , if power creep was such an issue, stop releasing OP sets and just nerf light attacks, problem solved and then we don't have to totally revamp our builds for like the 4th time this year, something I know a lot of people are sick of. Please, just stop making massive across the board adjustments. Small incremental adjustments would be much more accepted and result in less grief and frustration for players.

Have Brian and Gilliam undo those stupid ground dot nerfs of theirs. No logic, and they contradict their “they’ll do the same damage as before we nerfed them” statement. No one cares that they’ll cost more. What we care is that they will certainly not be dealing the same damage as before the Scalebreaker nerfs. Less, in fact.

    Oh. Umm... Err...... Rattlecage?

L2R; but, no one wants to spam potions every 30-45 seconds for a buff, especially for trash mobs, questing, literally any solo content, or anything else that isn't veteran/group content. If so, Z0$ may as well make ESO even more P2W since Magicka Templar players will have to continuously pay gold to just to keep Major Sorcery active and remain competitive in DPS and win fights. What a joke. :D

Also, no one likes the Rattlecage set. The armor only comes in heavy and it is a waste of a 5-piece bonus set in the first place with every class receiving a native Major Sorcery skill aside from Templar since launch, and now Necromancer -- but Necro can get in the back of the line and wait 5 years.

Class Abilities that provide Major Sorcery:
Dragonknight > Earthen Heart > Molten Weapons
Nightblade > Siphon > Sap Essence
Sorcerer > Storm Calling > Power Surge
Warden > Animal Companions > Betty Netch

May as well give Major Sorcery to Templars and Necromancers somewhere.
If an class needs 'class identity' the most, and deserves Major Sorcery, it is Templars.
Templar's Major Mending was given to Warden way back when.
Why not steal Major Sorcery from Dragonknight and give it to Templar? :D
Sorcerer and Templar are the two classes that make the most sense for having Major Sorcery in their native class skill toolkit.

Yes, but that still requires re-speccing the skill. Again.
It won't be long until Major Sorcery is removed from that morph, too, since Major Sorcery was already removed from the base ability and the other primary morph that everyone previously used...

Why is sustain being nerfed again. Majority of end game PVE content requires AOE cleave, as it stands today we were already forced to heavily invents into sustain sets to be able to keep up with sustain requirements, now it's even worse.

We also worked hard to learn our rotations and keep DPS up and now you just practically destroyed all the effort being put into rotations 2nd time in a row. Half of my guild mates laft after heal breaker patch, last half is leaving now, because of the devastating changes to pve dps. You keep alienating your end game pve player base. Why?!

Finally double down on Light Attack damage and sets such as relequen being a source of power creep and needing to change. Why do you "fix" things by breaking other things rather then fixing what's actually broken?? Light attack weaving and significant damage gain from it should be addressed.

I really don't think ESO really understands why there is so much anger and frustration over this patch. I will try to be precise but accurate with an explanation. My opinion of this situation is easily stated in an example...

    Nerf light attacks by 63%
Nerf all trial sets by 50%
Finally, make animation canceling and light attack weaving a first-time Perm bannable offense.

Can you imagine the outrage, anger, and frustration from the end game community? At being singled out and targeted like this? Because that's exactly how the casual players feel right now with this patch. End game elite players will be fine and the bottom 50% will be completely destroyed by this patch. The nerfs to damage are too much. Instead of 50% and 63%, damage nerfs why not 15% and 20% damage nerfs and see how effective it is. Because these nerfs will not greatly affect the elites damage by very much, only the casual and low-end damage dealers.

There is no point in testing dot builds. Obviously 1/3 of the power will do 1/3 of the DPS. It is more effective to spam light attacks than stack 3 dots.

Dots are now weaker than they were at the start of the last update.

DK is left with maybe 1 - 3 effective build options for PvP.

I am so flabbergasted by this design, I can barely think of of anything to say.

      Trapping Webs:
    • This ability and its morphs now last 10 seconds, rather than 5.
    • Fixed an issue where the synergies granted from these abilities were lasting longer than the ability that housed it.

This now requires the target to remain in a tiny 4m circle for 10 seconds for the second tick to do damage. This seems unlikely to happen in all but the most static fights. Is this intended?

Why not stack the 3 DOTS and then spam light attacks? DOTs are exactly just that-- damage over time -- DOTs are meant to be cast and forgotten or applied and then re-applied later. One does not spam DOTs, otherwise they would simply just override themselves.

With a lot of damage sources being reduced (all dots, AoE dots, and some popular and powerful spammable like dizzy swing or even rapid slash) and heals being buffed last patch, sustain is outstripping damage by quite a bit at the moment. It is very very easy to stalemate in fights for a long time right now. Perhaps generally some offensive pressure can be improved (in the form of unused skills getting buffed to be good DPS options) and heal over time can be toned down a slight bit? Dots are slightly over nerfed. If it takes 10 seconds For a single target DoT to deal 40% more damage than a spammable it means that overall pressure is not high and it also requires the user to not reapply the dot to actually get decent value. Perhaps create some “short term 5s based dots” instead of trying to standardize all dots to an unrealistic 10s? (Not like you’re succeeding because there are passives hat make skills longer anyways.) you’re just making skills look unappealing because the base line is so similar everyone just looks at dots and go “it’s a 10s skill” there is no trade off calculation needed for weighing a dot you would like to use more often vs a dot you can use and let it run even to the point you almost forget it.

Ok let me explain this to you. Each dot deals 1.25 but it's over 10s so in general you loose 1GCD to deal .25 damage more of that one GCD but over 10s. If you want to use 3 dots you will earn .75 of those GCDs. But now you are using 3 skill slots, that can used better to e.g. get bonuses from passives or slot skills that will buff your OVERALL damage (even 10% more overall damage will give better results than using dots). In the end you will have simpler rotation with better damage without dots.

In PvP on the other hand, why use 3 skill slots to deal almost the same damage if you can have more utility, more defense or more situational skills?

In current state (PTS cycle 1) if you use DoTs you simply hurt your self.
    Say no to Toxic Casuals!
