If you want the servers to be empty, then absolutely. But since I dont want a dead game, I will politely decline.

Dumb idea. The zones aren't set up for it, and would kill the game almost instantly as stupid people spawn camp every wayshrine in a zone.

I'd definitely take my subscription money elsewhere.

No way, and I'm saying this as someone who does PvP as part of my gameplay.
It would be intensely annoying to be at a crafting station, or at a bank, or just out doing quests, and suddenly have PvPers killing each other right in front of me.
Having those giant flappy twilights in front of the crafting stations is bad enough.

Plus the people who'd be ganking at wayshrines all day long.

I'd find a different game to play.

See subject line. It would be fun to kill newbies all across Tamriel IMO. Waiting for them to timidly venture out to level up while you are hiding behind the trees in anticipation and BAM! Corpseapoloclypse! Kind of like DAoC used to be.

I have a better idea. Let's implement a system where when a player ganks a newbie - the newbie gets to rise up as a ghost and follow that person around while invisible - waiting until the opportunity presents itself then gank them back while they in the middle of a fight. That way we can spread some of this so-called "fun" around more.

There is a game in early in development that has an openworld PvP system where the player can opt in or out. Any player can be attacked regardless of how they are flagged but if you attack someone not flagged for PvP you get cursed. The curse makes you weaker overall.

In other words, it is being designed that to make sure anyone that attacks a target not expecting to be attacked everyone will know and you are essentially marked for death and will lose more than otherwise.

The fun part is that someone that is not flagged will be able to attack a cursed player. Not only will they not get flagged for PvP they will not be cursed either. So anyone that is cursed is very much fair game.

we already have open world pvp...its called cyrodil..

Your point? Every other week there's one or two threads asking for "PvE only version" of Cyrodiil/IC, yet someone suggests open world PvP and every casual comes out of the woodwork to shoot the thread down. Kinda funny that people want to remove the only two areas that promote PvP but are deadset against any form of open-world PvP.

Open world would be nice, if they implemented it right (completely shut out to anyone below a certain CP threshold, opt-in only), but let's face it, the devs would completely butcher implementation.

You want to know why everyone dogpiles the open world pvp threads? Because there are exactly two kinds of pvper, the kind that do it for the challenge of playing against a human opponent and the other are the cowardly little (expletive)'s that get their rocks off killing people who can't possibly fight back and inflicting as much suffering and misery on other players as they possibly can. Now guess which type of player open world pvp encourages the most?

Heres a hint: Its not the ones looking for a challenge.

No, it would be the fastest way to reduce the player base of the game.

SWTOR had a flagging-system on their PVE servers. Of course gankers found creative ways to flag players for PVP, like hiding in trash mobs so they get hit by AOE, or throwing a snowball at them (and after that was fixed in an emergency patch, provoking the gankees to throw snowballs themselves, which still counted as an attack, until that was fixed as well :))

At that time they also had PVP servers, which were ghost towns, because all the gankees left. and the avid open world PVPers got bored lurking in the shadows behind quest givers and moved on to more populated servers.

Now the game has PVP instances you can voluntary chose to switch to (and can't leave for 10 minutes) those instances are a paradise for PVE, no people to ninja your quest objectives, totally worth the off chance that you meet a player of the other faction who is actually there for PVP.

So no, OWPVP doesn't really work unless there's so many players that you can keep a dedicated PVP server full of PVPers.

Let me guess... You are one of those sad, sad gankers who are camping the spawn points at the doors in IC Sewers...

I would be fine with a PVP instance of each server but it has to be optional. Even with that I think it should be like dueling and you just come back in the same spot and can move on from there.
