Necromancer Siphoning. Bug or Feature?

Hello,

playing the Necromancer for a few days i noticed, that sometimes the corpse will disappear. Some times there is a corpse and i can not use the Siphoning (this beam like zaan set) and some times there is no corpse and the button will glow up like i'd be able to use it, but nothing happens. I'm not sure if there is something going on that i just don't see or if this class is still a bit buggy?

Same thing for me although I'm using deaden pain. The corpses light disappears so quick. I see 2 or 3 corpses lit up and hit deaden pain and it only counts as like 1 or 2 if I'm lucky. On PS4 na.

They should just make both Necro corpse siphoning abilities into 360° effects like Repentance that don't require you to aim at a corpse -- they'd automatically siphon the nearest corpse. The effects (damage or healing) could become AoEs around you and the corpse.

I'm getting good results with my Necromancer tank who's using Mortal Coil, but damn does it make me wish it was a bit stronger and more fluid. Very often, by the time my character turns around to face a nearby corpse it would have already disappeared.

The problem with the 360° pull on the nearest corps is that would eliminate strategic choice for both the damage and healing siphons. With the beam also providing ticks on these, choosing the best corpse for the job is important.

That being said, the duration of some corpses are way to short, and targeting on them is often wonky and could be improved.

@BigBragg You're right. I was thinking solely from a tank's perspective, where the ability is not used as strategically as when it's used by a healer. Stamina return from Mortal Coil is the main selling point for a tank and I'd usually siphon whichever corpse my reticle lands on as soon as the 12 seconds pass. Even so, 120 stamina per seconds feels somewhat lackluster compared to what other tanks regenerate during block.

They could just eliminate the need to have your character face the corpse before the animation plays; I think that would make it a bit smoother.

If i understood this correctly, then any Necromancer can use any corpse? That makes the use of those skills highly unreliable and would explain, why the corpses sometimes disappear so quickly. So it seems to be a bug, but i struggle to get a video of it. Sometimes it happens, some times it doesn't.

I don't mind having to look at the corpse, the problem is there is like so many people in trials all i can see is glitter. Literally.

Pretty sure it’s a bug, and it does seem worse in groups with other Necromancers. This unreliable skill takes a lot of the fun out of the class.

Is this something that will be worked on @ZOS_GinaBruno or is it supposed to be like that?

I definitely notice this issue as well, especially in groups. It also seems if there is something in front of the corpse where you are aiming your crosshairs it will not fire either (like other enemy npc's, players pets, or a banker for example). Further, that same issue seems to extend to many areas of the game...Sorc Pets and Warden Bears blocking everything, hello? :D

Expanding on the post that mentioned 360 degree pull, I would like to see Blastbones have a hybrid response here. If you are aiming at something, then the skeleton will target as it does now. If you are not aiming (or just spamming the skill), then the skeleton will spawn and either:

    a) Stay at your side until you attack an enemy, at that point the skeleton will target THAT enemy
    b) Target a random enemy.

This could probably also work for the Siphoning problem. Necro is my favorite class right now. Quite a few Necro skills could use some updates and tweaking to truly make the class more well-rounded, and it probably wouldn't take too much. I wish ZoS would focus on more class specific functionality than the constant nerfing and homogenization. Hope they will rethink and try to IMPROVE existing skills on all classes first to encourage class originality, then see what nerfs/buffs need to happen. Just my two cents.

Some might think, that i'm overreacting - but.. I can't or should not play trials with the (stam) necromancer, when one of the main damage abilities is not working correctly. I loose a lot of dps from just that one skill, which is really bad in trials. Somehow the publishers don't seem to really care or?

ZOS really need add duration increase to corpses via perks to be useful for necromancers.
It's will be both QoL improvement and lore friendly addition like described in Corpse Preparation
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Corpse_Preparation
So necromancers can actually dig up and preserve larger stack of corpses for their rituals.

I actually just found out that Stam Necro can pull high DPS without using many class abilities at all. Someone was showing me an 80k Yolnahkriin single target where they only used the Skeletal Archer and the Colossus ultimate. I guess that's one way to make a buggy class playable.
