what is your favorite city/village in ESO and why?

  • Idhendryon
Alinor, and although it's not a city - Artaeum.

They are just beautiful and kind of soothing. I also really like the music there. I usually log-out there, even if I have nothing to do there.

On a more practical level, the crafting area in Alinor is also very convenient.

If Alinor felt a bit more "magical" it would be perfect for me.

I Elden Root and Vivec City are also great.

I live in Mournhold so I'm there every day. I am not sure if I love it though. It's just home.

    I have a few favourites :)

I love Alinor, because I am from Oxford, and it reminds me of home, it has such an Oxfordian feel to it with it's narrow streets, cathedral style buildings and the spires! All it is missing to be considered Tamriels version of Oxford are the gargoyles :D

I love Fell's Run in Rivenspire, it is so tudoresque and pretty, and is just the kind of little village I would like to live in irl, and the windmills are so pretty, really nice views as well as the village being so quaint and out of the way!

I love Abah's Landing, it makes me feel like I'm on holiday whenever I go there, and I really love how bustling and busy it always feels there, even when empty!

I love Marburuk, It's a perfectly sized small town, not too big but has everything needed to feel like it has some life to it, really pretty surroundings and cute little houses. It somehow feels cozier than most Altmer towns to me...

I could go on and on, I love so many :D Those are the first that spring to mind though!

Vulkhel Guard, it was the first "big" town I came across in ESO and all 10 of my toons still get parked there and do their daily writs etc there.

pretty simple to like especially with all the conversations going on, from the archeological gibber jabber, the argonians announcing their love for each other and my personal favorite the multiple cultures complaining and admiring each other openly like the two Cajun and Creole cultures like the small Bayou town of Eunice, LA.

    #1 - Anvil
    #2 - Kvatch

For nostalgic reasons like many others, these are close to a tie for me, since OB was my first TES game. I was excited when I found out about the DB DLC and the inclusion of these cities, even before I had ESO itself. My hands-down favorite OB mod was Kvatch Rebuilt, and I played through it many times, and to see the actual living breathing city in ESO was amazing. But I have to give a slight nod to Anvil, because it was the first of those two that I saw when I finally got to the Gold Coast, and as I simply rode around town for a little while, I really did shed a tear of joy.

    Just for fun -

Just curious, I'd love to hear what is other peoples favorite cities, villages or towns in this game.
For me, from the vanilla ones I'd have to say Riften, although mistly because of how much i loved it back in skyrim. still, love the looks, the wodden bridges the autumn trees, the water, it's very beautiful.
From the non vanilla ones it's probably Abah's landing, mainly because of the thieves guild quests, and I've always loved corrupt cities where I've had to escape and hide in small places andtravel in roofs to get where I want to be. :)

I liked Riften also, had a peaceful feel to it.

    Alinor for looks

Coldharbor Hollow City for interesting spots after you finish all quests

Reapers March and Grahtwood for guild traders

It all depends on what I’m looking for.

Now this is a difficult question. There are a lot of cities that I like, but there are a few that stand out.

Alinor is obviously one of them. Summerset is just pretty all over, but the capital takes the cake.

Speaking of capitals, Mournhold is another one of my favourites, I'd even dare say that I like the Dunmer architecture more than the Altmer one in Alinor.

And speaking of Dunmer architecture, the OG Davon's Watch is another one that I really like, as well as Tel Mora on Vvardenfell - House Telvanni being my favourite Great House.

And then I'd throw in there Abah's Landing, which is probably close to the top. I used to know that city's every nook and cranny back when the Thieves Guild DLC was first released, and I loved it. Nowadays, I get lost in it when trying to find my way to the Thieves' Den :D

Honourable mentions have to be Windhelm and Riften, as I love me some Skyrim, as well as the Brass Fortress in the Clockwork City, where one of my characters is permanently parked, so I get to enjoy the atmosphere of the city every day.

Mournhold. I love the Indoril architecture. Vivec City is great when it's complete, in TES 3, but in ESO in the unfinished state it's not much.

    Balmora, Vvardenfell.

Also my favorite city from (offline) Morrowind. When I played Morrowind, it was my first time with a character named Ehope.

Ehope has been to many, many worlds and is also my license plate.

Balmora for me too, same reason.

My first few months playing ESO was usign Vulkhel Guard as a hub for inn, crafting, bank and stables. And for so long I wondered what that really loud sound was in the distance. I had no idea what a dolmen was for maybe a month despite one being right in the backyard. :D

I do it as well! ^^

And yes, Alinor is also my number 1 and fav by far. ZOS did an amazing job with creating this city. I love its very detailed buildings, architecture, general atmosphere, vibe, beauty and city layout. Alinor is the feast for my eyes :)

Sunhold - although a public dungeon, but I think we can still consider it a city :) For the same reasons as above.

Other than that... Elden Root is the unique one. I like the magical feeling there.

I also really like Haven, especially during the night - what a pity there is nothing worth doing after you complete quests there.

Vulkhel Guard - for nostalgic reasons. The first town I visited during the first beta and I was instantly in love.

Shornhelm - gloomy and climatic, just like the whole Rivenspire.

Aaand I really hope we will see the rest of Skyrim someday cause I would love to see ESO's version of Solitude :)

For the first 2+ years I had all my characters parked in Marbruk, Greenshade. There's just something about that town that feels like a place I'd want to live.

Outside of a few annoying npcs - I mean, seriously, did you really think hiring a Dunmer to be your assistant banker was a good idea? And those two trickster's building a Frankenrat who have "...got almost everything."

Now that I'm running through crafting writs on 12 characters I've staged them in Velyn Harbor, Malabal Tor for ease of access, but Marbruk will always be a special place.
