I played wow myself back in the day so I'm not anti-wow. I was a member on the forums when I played that game years ago.

Now I am playing eso and on the eso forums and I dont expect to see posts about wow. I get it that people will make remarks about other games but not whole posts.
I need you to explain if this is ok and how please.

I don't think it's right to make posts comparing eso to other games.

If this is allowed then I should be able to compare eso to game of thrones or other tv shows as I please without expecting to get my post closed down?

Please explain to me how these forums work because so many other threads get closed down and yet wow ones dont? How do they not break the forum rules?

Why are people deliberately missing my point? Read the question properly and stop trying to berate me.

    Thank you .

I play both ESO and WoW concurrently and enjoy both games. I don't understand the hatred people have for other MMO's; if someone mentions ESO on WoW, in game, people jump down their throats and if you mention WoW in ESO you get people jumping down your throat as well. If someone brings up a conversation I don't want to be a part of I just don't get involved; if I see a thread on the forums I don't care for, I don't read it. Simple as that.

Most people seem to miss what OP is actually trying to say.. that WHY it is OK to post about WoW (another game that has nothing to do with ESO) and thus those posts should be closed by forum standard rules, same as you make a post about LoTR or GoT as an example and those get locked because they are off-topic as in not about ESO.

I guess OP is hoping to have either an off-topic section where the WoW posts are at their rightful place and where one can also post other off-topic stuff then. Or if there is no such place, they should be locked & removed like any other off-topic post.

The OP is missing what most people already told him. The WoW threads aren't about WoW itself. They're still about ESO.
It's not just 'Hey, you know WoW, I was playing my shaman the other day and something really cool happened to me...'

Please show me the threads that are only about WoW. Most of them compare it to ESO, people are talking about what they like and dislike, about MMO game design, about opinions, issues, feedback, suggestions, etc... all of that has a place on the ESO forums.

Also please show me the threads about GoT and LotR that were shut down. A simple Forum search will tell you that people made threads about GoT without being shut down.https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/71335/if-you-were-reading-game-of-thrones-for-the-first-time-would-you-skip-the-first-2-chapters

Ignore it, you don't have to read every post on the forums.

its not in the fine print of the agreement somewhere?

You should've probably add CAPS to your bold letters, so it would be more noticeable..

    LOL

To OP, they are making it in relation to ESO which is why the mods have not closed the threads.

I do find it entertaining how people have defended WoW with the sad state of quest design there and the horrible graphics not to mention the antiquated combat system. I do realize some do not like change and the nostalgia aspect and that probably sums it up.

Plenty of people have given actual proof of why WoW does certain things better than ESO. That shouldn't be a surprise, as ESO does some things better than WoW. I really don't get all the hate. Surely the rational stance would be to acknowledge that games have strengths and weaknesses?

The only difference in quest design betwen WoW and ESO for example is that eso has more voiced dialogue and occasionally presents you with superficial choices - their quests are still the same kill/fetch/interact quests. For a game with actually inventive quest designs, see The Secret World. For a game with actually impactful choices, see SWTOR.

And the combat system of ESO isn't new. Hack-and-slash games had the same buttonmashing action-based combat for decades. It's just not common in MMOs because it makes rotations incredibly static and repetitive (especially when it is paired with the poor class diversity that ESO has), which leads to pressing the same buttons in the same order over and over with no reactive gameplay or strategic planning. Other games - not just WoW - have procs, skill interactions, cooldown management and many other things that make for a more engaging gameplay. You can of course enjoy ESO's system more, just as some people enjoy FPS combat more, but it's certainly not objectively better.

i think you need to take a break from this game. dont get so stressed out over people comparing eso to a game you may not like. you're displaying some pretty real online tribal behaviour with how you don't like being reminded that eso is a flawed game and that other similar games exist that could be arguably better

People are always going to compare things to each other, it's just how products are reviewed. I never played WoW but I compare this game to LOTRO all the time because that was several years of gaming experience and I know what about it I enjoyed and what I didn't, and I made a weighty decision in switching from that game to this one so there are going to be some things I miss and some I don't. That's just a part of the judging process that people use to determine whether a product is worth their time or not.

Because that would possibly hurt their image (pretty smart for them imo). I've never played WoW, however I've found myself wondering "what if I did?" With the way ESO has been developing over the years, other MMOs have been attracting my gaze from time-to-time. I don't think there are any truly great MMOs out there right now, but ESO's direction has been really unattractive lately.
