If you’re looking for a weapon-focused character that can buff and support its team, you’re looking at warden.

Nightblade needs to be a spellcaster build in order to fulfill that role.

For a Bard Build an actual Bard class of itself

Music DPS buff for the group in combat.

    Jack-of-all trades

    Bard's College Experience

I feel like there's more I can add to this but that's all for now.

If you’re looking for a weapon-focused character that can buff and support its team, you’re looking at warden.

Nightblade needs to be a spellcaster build in order to fulfill that role.

A Warden will also be much better at supporting their team as a caster. There are some fun to play and pretty cool tools in each of the classes' toolboxes, but if you're going to support the group, you're not really going to do that on a stamina build no matter what.

That being said, my support magblade vampire has one job : making everyone's life easier. She's certainly not your typical bard, but she does walk in their shoes. Not a proper healer, can sort of tank through sheer regen / HP theft, deals ridiculously low damage (but the same amount of damage on each enemy, no matter their numbers), has a nirnhoned restoration staff on her attack bar (yep, it was intended), but at the end of the fight, it's commonplace for her to ear stuff like "eh, funny that, I remembered that fight to be harder last time I came here". So, look and feel of a bard. Well, mostly feel. A bard that would look this bad would scare the audience away, what with the red injected eyes and all.

Only DK has that melodic sound of cauterize and stomp of fragmenting shield.

technically, i think Templar would be a better support class. Also Lightsinger sounds better in my book.

I'd say... "Bard" guild skill line, but then... I would say that, would I not?

    NO!
No, new classes are evil! EVIL I say!
It may look good for those who are newly come to ESO, but for those who have been here since launch... its exceedingly painful to contemplate having make yet more alts just to enjoy new classyness, and even moreso when a new class might better fit a character idea we have been playing fopr years then what we had back when we made that one...

New skill lines on the other hand, skill lines that -everyone- can enjoy if they so choose... those would be nifty!

I agree on the Templar call... followed by warden. Also you need some jorvulds gear for the 40% increase to buffs and shields and such as those.

I disagree that a stamina toon cant do the role. circle of protection razor caltrops vigor all use stamina and are worth including.... it might be the truest hybrid build though. Would be a pain to level up in battlegrounds though. Maybe start off as a dps/healer until you get the skills then make the switcheroo?

    Just a few thoughts...

Well, generally a "bard style" build would be one geared less on direct combat ability or tankyness or healing... but instead more on stealth, charisma and support skills.
As in... "...playing the lute while others do the fighting"? :p

Oh, and as an addendum - Yeah, the OP mentioned "nightblade" who have the sneaky sneaks covered, and warden which does the "let a charmed bear fight for you while you play the lute" part. Both are in the "bard" direction, but neither really is a bardic build per se...

    Yay!
But really, the only way the pain of new classes for old players could be migrated would be if they also added class change, and they have always said "nope" to that one.
I for one would much rather see some other way to diversify the existing classes instead of just adding more... I mean, I almost lost heart with the necromancer this year...

    ...

BtW, "Monk" would not be a class, but more like a collection of skill lines. Unarmed as weapon, possibly with some sort of "martial arts magic" to imbue punches with magica to actually make it comparable to swords and such... it might make for a nifty melee magica build setup! Then the light armor would fit right with that...

But weapon skill lines are a different discussion from bardic lute-playing:
