Endless hail isn't worth it unless you're good with dynamic rotations, even then, it's most likely a minimal increase in dps and sustain for less aoe and more headache. You're much better off with Arrow Barrage this patch, it's 10s and lines up with dot timers like Poison Injection, Soul Trap and Twin Slashes.

Arrow Barrage = 10s duration (8s dot, 2s wind up)
Endless Hail = 14s duration (12s dot, 2s wind up)

Do you have access to the Maelstrom Arena btw? The ms axe + dagger in combination with flurry will be more effective than your current setup (although it will increase the difficulty of your rotation).
The Master's Bow (or Maelstrom Bow) will also prove to be better.

Your single target setup would look like this: Relequen - Lokkestiz - MS dagger + axe - Master's Bow (no monsterset)
multi target/trash groups/Maelstrom: VO/Hundings/Briarheart/two-fanged + Kra'ghs/Velidreth/Slimecraw + Master/Maelstrom Bow

But nevertheless, good job! Rotation is key and you already made a lot of progress.

Yep i have a cruel flurry set in the bank somewhere.. traits aren't great but that's what transmutation is for I guess. bow i don't have though... so will have to go torture myself somemore to farm that

Pen sets are for 4 person dungeons or PvP, not parsing. Relequen/Advancing is still bis. If you either can't get your hands on Advancing (those dagger drops suuuuck) or you have it but can't keep up your stacks, go with Leviathan. For the pen, have a friend puncture for you, or just parse on the 21m atro dummy if it's available to you.

I decided to reboot my StamSorc last night (because you know.. meta #yolo) and barely pulled any more than 16K DPS on a 6 Mill Vet Target Skeleton.

I do suffer the Aussie Ping rage. At best I get 280 (maybe 10 less with mudfish). Usually its 300-310 territory. Framerate isn't an issue, I get 100fps easily most of the time (GTX1080).

It's an Orc. Lover Mundus all Divines. Stats are about 14.5k health, 26k stam and 11k'ish mag. Stam Rec is around 1k unbuffed. CP i'll have to check later but i know i have 37 into Piercing and a ton divided between Precise Strikes, Mighty, Master-At-Arms, and Phys Wep Expert

Gear - Running all medium and purple,
5pc Spriggans (Divines) Purple,
5pc Night Mother Gaze (Infused Jewellery - Purple, Gold Wep Dmg Enchant)(DW, 1xAxe Sharpened, 1 x Dagger Nirnhoned)(Bow Nirnhoned)
2pc Selene's (Divines, Med Shoulder, Heavy Helm)

According to /CMX my penetration is sitting at a mean average of 16,500 (this is after NMG Major Fracture is applied)... Weapon Damage buffed with Surge is at around 3900, crit is 45%.

Bar 1 (DW) is Rending, Trap, Rapid Strikes, Soul Split Trap, Surge - Dawnbreaker
Bar 2 (Bow) is Barrage, Ring of Pres, Poison Inj, Hurricane, DD - Atro

I haven't tested this with Arteum Food yet.. But that's next on the agenda. In a group scenario i would swap out NMG for Vicious Ophidian as tank will run fracture anyway. But this is initial skeleton testing solo. Also currently haven't enchanted/poisoned the weapons yet.. i know that'll add a few K DPS but i ran out of time last night doing that part.

I could swap out Surge and run pots to get that Major Brutality and Savagery and maybe stick another skill in there, possibly same with Dark Deal but was using that for Stam sustain and self heal when wandering.

On the surface these stats look great, I don't think I'm having too much trouble with rotation.. Surge, SWAP, Ring of Pres, Barrage, LA, Injection, LA, Hurricane, SWAP, Trap, LA, Soul Split, LA, Rending, LA, Rapid, Rapid, Rapid, LA.... rinse repeat.

Why though.. can't i seem to break 16k on this? It doesn't make mathematical sense? I'm not chasing ridiculous 100k+ DPS, I'd be happy with at least 30.. but why can't I even get there?

Most of what I'll end up doing on this will be Group Dungeons.. still yet to test with someone else puncturing but yeah totally agree Rele (or even Loki) is still on the cards to replace the hundings i chucked on.. farming Adv Yok/Rele/Loki though has to wait till the weekend because the only time i can get a group together to run trials is in American prime time.. which is 9am in the morning for me and I'm at work

Rele is only good if you hit the same target for more than 15 la in a row~ without switching targets... Therefore u would recommend lokke/VO more, probably.

If all you're going to do right now in overland, dungeons and some n.trials. HR/Sprig. is fine. If you want to "bump it up" VO/Briarheart is probably the best setup for all around anything; solo, overland, group, dungeons, n. trials, most vet trials.

You don't need Rele/Loki to complete anything. Granted it's nice with a well organized group, but for the level you appear to be at (not busting yer chops) it's not needed yet. For dummy humping on the 21mil. sure, but not real content.

again the key is rotation, rotation, rotation

so i got to go out and run nCR on a +2 on the weekend finally - must say im really happy with where this is heading.

although it's hard to sustain constant DPS with so many mechanics going off (and with me on portals, and orbs/creepers during burn), i averaged 35k at the end.... but when solely focused on Z'maja and with all raid buffs going on... i was smashing 55K constant at times (until he ported elsewhere). Can't wait to finish off the Rele set and try again now!

i thought about dusting off the old DKS before.. haven't used it since pre 1.6... but the only advantage it gives is the static major brutality, which then would free up the slot Surge is taking i agree, but.. what can i honestly put in its place? there aren't many other stam dot's that could go there for a sorc.. deadly cloaks been nerfed to hell so that's useless now

well new patch, everyones taken a hit.. decided to dust off the DK..

looking good so far... got it to 53K (parse after this. it had 28% berserker uptime because enchant wore off)- still think theres room for improvement though, i know theres at least another 10-15 in this..



i think the weakness is Light Attacks at this point and getting them to connect. it just feels like the LA's are not connecting with each press of the left mouse button.. and that whatever animation is in progress just wont cancel.. is there any tweaks for this to get it to register? (i.e. upping mouse click sensitivity etc?)

I encountered a problem similar to that, but I'm not sure if it's the same one you're having. Dual wield seems much more responsive for me lately, bow light attack weaving feels much slower and clunkier, even on skills that aren't bow skills. I've been getting better DPS from dual wield on both bars simply from casting several more skill casts per minute while weaving light attacks. And since the bow DOTs aren't as big of a deal anymore, double DW works out to be more DPS in melee ranged boss fighting...for me anyway.

You need to let your finger go from the button before you press the skill button, and you need to let go from the skill button before you press the light attack button. Does that help?

Also you do the light attack first and then cancel the light attack animation with a skill. You might also try to test a pure front bar rotation to see if you can weave dw better than bow.

What helped me was training the parts of the rotation. So when I was learning how to LA weave I spammed Hail injection caltrops over and over. Start slowly (be sure every LA hits the dummy) and than slowly increase the speed. Then choose other part of the rotation. Practise it. If you get it right choose bigger part of the rotation etc.

Try slowing it down a little. Make all of your clicks super pronounced , with your finger fully off of the previous key/button/trigger before hitting the next one. Speed can be your enemy when developing a parse, especially with some of the more over-the-top dramatic animations.

It's all about rhythm.

I think of it as:

Sec 0: Light Attack
Sec 0.1: Ability (Cancels the light attack animation)
Sec 0.2 -> 0.7: Delay, no need to press anything.
Sec 0.8 -> 1.0: Light Attack

If you didn't know this about Heavy Attacks already, they are extremely easy to weave. There is 2 parts to them. The wind up, it's about 0.5s on DW with the damage at the end, then the recovery animation. You can actually hold your heavy attack button and press an ability 0.1s after just like the Light attack rotation above, and the recovery animation gets completely cancelled out exactly when it starts.

Originally before I knew this, I would always hold down the heavy attack and then tried to time the ability right after I SAW it connect, I thought the animation being cut early, meant I wasn't getting the damage, but this isn't true. No matter what, if you hold the key down, then press an abilty shortly after (still holding the heavy attack key), it queues the ability for the exact moment the damage portion of the heavy attack hits with practically no connect between your weapon and the target.

This is why Heavy Attack rotations during post Morrowind patch were completely broken easy and why they nerfed HA damage + buffed LA damage.

I remember I sweat so hard to do a LA rotation on Stam Sorc at the time with huge sustain issues, I hopped on a sDK on the PTS and with 0 sustain issues and only front bar HA"s I was able to pull higher dps within 1 test. Glad that isn't meta anymore.
