Summerset and chests

I am a little confused. They wants us to play the game...right? I spent 6 hours (2am - 8am EST) farming everything including wood, ore, flowers, killing stuff...and everything else, while following the east-coast of Summerset's chest locations. 79 chests in all. I am trying to find the Praxis for Alinor Floor, Ballroom Timeworn. I hit almost every single chest and hundreds of other "possible" nodes of such drop types. What astounds me is that I only hit 2 Master Chests! Here's the breakdown: 5 non-spawned; 2 Master; 4 Advanced; 8 Intermediate; and, 60 Simple! 60 Simple?! What are the probabilities of this? I did acquire the Praxis for Alinor Wall, Timeworn Long from the very first chest, but no Praxis after that. I now have 7+ of three of one armor piece and hardly any weapons of any real use. I feel that it was a total waist of time for me! I would have been happy with 40 simple, and even 6 or 7 masters. But, the issue is that the chests were dropping the SAME stuff every time! As well as drops that had nothing to do with ANY of the characters I run. Am I wrong in feeling there should be a better algorithm for how these chests spawn and what they drop?

As it so happens, some time ago I tested ZOS' force lock percentages by cracking open just over 2000 chests.

From that, I found that out of 2,008 found chests: 58% Simple, 31% Intermediate, 7% Advanced, and 4% Master.

Your results are of a much, much smaller sample size, so there's going to be a much bigger margin for error. In other words, you got unlucky with the simple chests on that particular run, but there's no reason to think there's something off with the spawn rate of different values of chests. If you don't like those probabilities, I'd suggest finding a different farming method. IME chest farming rewards persistence.

I've seen a lot of chests in Summerset. Most are simple it's true, some are magnificent.

I never even knew that any recipes were in chest, period. I've been playing this game for three years and I have not gotten one single recipe from any chest, ever. I've farmed chests, too. Not in Summerset, maybe they're only in chests there? But this is the first I'm hearing about it even being a possibility. So maybe it's just super, super, SUPER rare.

Want those nice praxis and blueprints? Start pick-pocketing and looting containers. You won't get what you're looking for in open world chests.

The only reason to farm Summerset chests is for Psijic motifs (best chance at Psijic rank 10).

I'm pretty sure there's a cooldown on those drops, i've seen this with other special chest/node/portal drops ...

Thanks everyone. I didn't think about pickpocketing. I'll give it a try. Yes, Minyassa, diagrams, recipes other crafting styles too come from chests all over Tamriel.

Yep. That's why I farm while traveling between chests. I see A LOT of gamers going straight for the chests and not letting them cool down, or some idiot won't take a "simple" chest cause it's not worth their time. Or, they only take what they want and leave junk in it. Don't they realize that by leaving simple chests or stuff in them will NOT allow them to re-spawn?
