Agree to certain point, max button should have warning message before actual crafting.
Crafted 45 rubedite daggers yesterday, only lack of inventory saved me from more :D
And now imagine that you may waste something like corn flower or perfect roe or hakeijo that way. Ugh, a nightmare!
Yes it should obviously reset after exiting crafting station, might even reset after each use.

It would be better if it defaulted to minimum IMO. I noticed in provisioning that it remembers the quantity as you create different things.

I was doing the daily writ, created 1 food item, then created 10 of something for myself while I was on the right tab, then went to the drinks to create the 1 drink for the writ and accidentally created 10 because the counter remained on 10. That meant I had 39 (with the 4 for 1 perk) drinks I'd never use and lost the ingredients that went in to 9 of them.

It's probably just something we all need to get used to, but really it needs to default to minimum and reset to minimum when you go to create something else. Just because you want to create 100 of one thing, that doesn't mean you want 100 of the next thing you create.

At the end of the day it's no big deal and I'll get used to it I suppose.

Why does it matter if you get the same stuff you would have gotten doing them one at a time?

What if your ESO+ has run out, can't afford it or whatever, and the raw mats are in your craftbag. Refining them all at once dumps the whole lot in your character's inventory. In that case it makes sense to only refine what you actually need there and then.

They might also have wanted to refine a few to make something and sell the rest raw. Sure they could put 90 out of 100 in the store first but the remaining 10 isn't guaranteed to give them all they need, so it make sense to want to refine 10 at a time.

As I said above, it's something to get used to, but it would be better defaulted to the minimum.

The old multicraft addon let you *type in* the number you wanted to craft. Why do i have to sit there holding down a button til I hit the magic number? It might solve a lot of this. Did the people making multicraft in game not ever use the multicraft addon?!

Just click on min and you do one set at a time.
200 to refine - do not click on min - refine 200 in one go
    200 to refine - click on min - refine 10 - left with 190

BUT - the "min" only lasts one click so you need to click on min again

Really? So it's auto set to max or?

Exactly. This is beyond annoying. If you want to get old system you must set the counter to 1 every fricking time you press "refine".

Why does it matter if you get the same stuff you would have gotten doing them one at a time?

I have yet to get ANY single additional material out of mass refining.

I have just wasted 6700 platinum ore and I got ZERO gold reagents, ZERO purple reagents and ZERO blue reagents.

Now, I can understand I could have hit the "one in a million" chance that refining 6700 platinum would not yield any gold reagent. But the blue? Really? They used to "pop out" like candy. This time, zero dot zero.

I know that. OP just made it sound like they had no choice and it was automatically refining without their input. Dolgubon's Lazy Writ crafter has an option to auto craft your writs as soon as you interact with the crafting station. Otherwise you have to hit the craft button to start the process. I was wondering if they had an add-on like that. Because otherwise, they simply didn't pay attention to the max setting. Nothing automatically refined all their mats. They hit the button.

They may have had autorefine installed. Not sure how it works now, but it used to automate the refining process. Combine that with patch day weirdness, and it's just this side of possible their addon autorefined everything on the wrong character after they enabled out of date addons.

No, I have nothing at all, yet I get whole infinite stacks completely refined in one shot, by default.

Why does it matter if all your raw mats get refined? That's what unrefined mats are for anyway. If you wanted to sell the raw mats, you should have done so beforehand. Seeing that you have such an absurd amount of raw mats, you clearly aren't selling them, either.

Now, if the mass-refine option wasn't giving you all of the allocated materials from doing the refining, that's a different issue and you would have a valid argument. However, that's not what I'm seeing in your picture with 86k scraps (wtf). Refine that trash and be done with it. You are being argumentative for no justifiable reason - there's no issue here.

So, to clarify - it's set to max by default for refine AND craft?

I can see the default being set to max for refining, since I think many players would just want to refine all mats when refining. But for crafting? Yeah...I definitely don't want to be crafting the max amount of rubedite daggers for a writ.

I don't main on PC, so I hadn't tested multi-crafting yet. I'll try to do so tonight and play around with it. Can anyone confirm that this is also for the gamepad interface?

Well, let's look at this logically.

Are there more people who have a shartload of mats that they want to refine instantly? Or are the more people who inexplicably only want to refine once at a time?

The answer is is the former. Therefore when you load a stack in, it auto-sets it to refine the max amount.

doesnt matter how many ppl suffer from this absolutely bitchy and incompetent step, many enough yeah, if someone not close to crafting side of this game trust me if u refind 10k of raw mats this way in one hit u lost a LOT. ppl just been robbed basically because this options completely unfinished cos theres no choice/no settings. it shouldnt go live without these settings.

in addition ticket #190813-001610 absouletly ignored for more then 24 hours. this ticket about just 97 Clam Gal i'v lost when i tried to craft some food. So wonder @ZOS after all these quakecon or what ever it was you gonna get back to worst support again? doubt that cos you are was so fast to reply about you special offer for ppl canceled subs, +free month and even more for 0.5/1 year sub renew.

Whose stupid idea was it to have it default to 'max'?

I'd assume it would stay on 'min' unless you change it (on console, so haven't seen it yet).

And for anyone asking 'why does it matter?' - some of us like refining mats only as we need them, leaving us with the option of selling raw mats later on. Some people have inventory issues and all those style/trait stones you get cause grief.

Yeah right off the bat I accidentally made 800 potions that I only wanted 200 of but because of the passive and zero indication of how many potions I was actually creating, I wasted 150 of each Alchemy ingredient. I'm not impressed.

    Hello,
I have refined mats by not paying attention to the setting. I do not have the Multi-Craft, Auto Craft or Auto Refine add-ons. I have Dolgubon's and WritWorthy.
How do I change the setting before getting to a crafting station? I really don't want to check every time I am doing writs.
    Thanks much,
    Robbie
