I just wanted to remind ZOS how undervalued Destructive Touch and morphs are based on direct comparisons to abilities already present after their audit.
Destructive Touch VS Poison Arrow
- 2700 Cost vs 2700 Cost
- Direct Damage + 10s DOT vs Direct Damage + 10s DOT
- 15m range vs 28m range
Destructive Touch as a base morph is identical to Poison Arrow, but has lower range for seemingly no reason.
Destructive Reach VS Poison Injection
- 2430 Cost (morph) vs 2700 Cost
- Direct Damage + 10s DOT vs Direct Damage + 10s DOT
- 15m range vs 28m range
- Morph: 28m range and -10% cost vs +100% Execute Damage when -50% hp
Destructive Reach now gains back the 28m Poison Arrow had in the original skill with no additional effect other than a small cost reduction. Why? Destructive reach needs more.
Destructive Clench (flame) VS Draining Shot
- 2700 Cost vs 3780 Cost
- Direct Damage vs Direct Damage
- 15m range vs 22m range
- _m? Knockback vs 8m Knockback/ 1.5s Stun + Heal (morph)
I won’t touch on frost or shock Destructive Clench as I don’t have a strong opinion about them, the range on these abilities is what is most important and a clear issue between all the abilities. There is no reason mag can’t have a 28m dot, it should not be a unique morph effect. A 15m knockback is pretty laughable and I don’t even play Mag in PVP, but I can see how this is an extreme oversight.
If anyone has suggestions for an added bonus to Reach, what would it be? Execute damage would be kind of perfect since there is no universal Execute available for Magicka, but it would make it identical to Poison Injection. Do you agree that 15m is too short?
