Is bunny hopping or long jumping considered a reportable offense?

Xbox NA player here, I asked a streamer around a month ago to explain the input for long jumping, I translated this to xbox controller and can now long jump in combat with about 85% success. This seems to be very powerful yet I have not seen a single other player on console execute one. Should I be concerned about being reported for bug abuse? Or should I keep long jumping over all the other console plebs?

Bunny hopping no, its just really annoying.

....what's long jumping? If its a bug that gives you an advantage in combat then that qualifies as an Exploit.

Try sprinting and then jumping, normally. You will see that your character slows down considerably while in air(down to walking speed), then picks up speed again when his feet touch the ground.

This has no physical reasons, in fact it goes against the laws of momentum. Which means the devs deliberately got out of their way and programmed the jumping in such a way as to slow down players midair. They obviously don't want them doing long jumps. Make your own conclusion.

Long jumping seems different then bunny hopping. Perhaps some clarity would help. Also, does it present like an unintended exploit?

reportable offense, sure. every now and then a dumb ass reports legit play, cos he doesnt know whats going on
but banable offense, no. you use ingame mechanics.

Long jumping you are talking about doesn't look intended. I'd be careful using it

Well it is an exploit... So if you're abusing it the answer is yes its reportable and ban-able, so i would be careful..

Edit: - For the people that don't know, the long jump is the ability to jump great lengths, the amount of distance you can jump full speed on a mount with rapids on. its possible to simulate that distance while in combat.

    Zenimax,
please add a high stamina cost to jumping to the point that 2 jumps empties out the stamina pool we have making constant jumping impossible.
    serious request,
    please do this.

That's too drastic. Just use the same cost mechanics roll dodging is already using. Less coding, and would work like a charm :)

Assuming bunny-hopping is repeated hitting your regular "jump" button so that you jump up and down at the normal jump speed/distance...

No, that's neither an exploit nor reportable. Its just jumping up and down while moving forward.

Assuming the long jump is moving at greater than the intended jump distance/speed, then yes, that's an exploit. Sort of like Feather Fall, which ZOS promptly fixed after the methodology became widely known.

As far as I know, the only intended "long jump" are the leap skills, gap closers, and streak.

You can do it somewhat consistently on flat ground with manual inputs if you practice the timing. Someone doing it consistently on uneven ground, probably a macro, which are against against ToS (?)

I like doing it, reminds me of strafe jumping in Quake engine games, probably annoying to opponents tho. Not really useful other than for bravely running away in some places.

Long jumping is using a glitch to jump father then intended. Using a glitch is exploiting.

Is this anything to do with the videos of people able to jump to the tops of keeps? That without question is cheating/exploiting/whatever.

If not...but it’s still a bug you’re exploiting but it doesn’t give you a huge amount of advantage...I don’t know, in this case I have no idea what it is.

Will you get banned for using an exploit? This is not Fallout 76 where when the devs mess up they ban people. Put it this way, many people use an exploit right now. Devs tried to fix it and can't so it now has become a "feature". LMFAO

That said, don't go by what I say 100%. Better wait till Gina or Jessica can answer this for you.

It is using engine physics to increase jump length (drastically, 3-10 times) and speed. If done manually has either low chance of success or not so big distance jump (since requires precise timing for maximum jump). I didn't tried it with macro, but I saw others tried, looked awesome, when I will be terminally tired of lag, I will just go all nuts and macro those jumps to have fun a little before being banned.

Agreed. This type of well.."hack" I guess, as well the use of Macros are against the TOS and are bannable offenses.

its a strafe and sprint method to gain super speed. You move as fast as someone streaking but its basically free. Totally needs to be fixed.

It is an exploit and I know for fact that players have been banned for this. Interestingly, it wasn’t their account. Just that toon that did the exploit. So..if you are consistently doing this where others could record you, be warned.

Increase? Jumping doesnt cost anything atm. It needs a cost period. Anyone who is remotely athletic can say that continuous jumping is hella tiring.

    So is jogging everywhere.

So if we really wanna be realistic here, let's go back to TES 3 Morrowind. We can slow-a** walk everywhere while all jogging costs stamina!

...on second thought, maybe not a great idea.

To be honest. I don’t really care. Just have fun. I don’t really get why you would get banned for something that isn’t your fault. Just report the bug. Anyone who complains is just ridiculous. Lol 😂
