Are the Iron Atronachs on holiday?

I wonder because it seems like something is pretty off with the spawn rates of them. I mean, it can't be designed to differ this much, can it? I must have killed over 300 Flame Atronachs in this time.


I've almost done all 30 dragon dailies, not really interested in farming more dragons just for the sake of this achievement

They are on Strike because they are the lesser known Atronachs and feel they are being held back. Demands were rumored to be: more involved in dragon fights and becoming an ultimate or ability before Frost and Fire Atronachs.

The best place to farm them is in the Forgotten Wastes public dungeon in VVaarrdenfell

EDIT: Sorry, didn't realise this was a specific Elsweyr achievementas I don't have it. I thoguht it was a part of the generic Daedra Slayer achievement.

They have to be killed while fighting dragons for the achievement the OP is talking about. I've also had less spawns of them than the other two.

Yeah it's almost always flame atronachs if anything spawns at all. Don't know why these would be rarer, unless it's just designed to be grindy to keep people occupied for longer lol.

Only the Grey ones will spawn the Iron Atros. If they're a Red one, they will only drop Wyrms or Flame Atros

Only grey dragons spawn iron atronachs, and only two at a time. They will only do it while perched too.

The iron atro's only spawn for the blue dragons.....is the first restriction. Up to 4, yes FOUR, iron atro's can spawn per dragon IF it is killed slow enough. .....good luck getting the mobs to kill the blue dragons slowly. I estimate I killed roughly 200 dragons before I got all the atro's, and that was with begging in zone to kill the dragons more slowly and taking a ton of BS for making the request.

ZOS wants you to grind the crap out of dragon killing to get that achievement with the low spawns, the same as the low drop rate motifs that you get from the dragon killing daily.

I hit the achievement for killing 50 dragons pretty quickly, but I don't have the interest to chase those other achievements. I've already played way too much Skyrim, TYVM.

I think this is why, and maybe I'm making a leap here, it is called an achievement. Perhaps some grinding is involved.

only blue dragons can spawn iron atronachs and if you push them 2 fast they either drop some stupid wraiths or dont spawn anything...yes I find it tedious already since they spawn only 2 at a time and if ur slow 4 that assuming u have a swarm of players waiting to kill it...u can however do it with a friend that's a tank at the dead time where nobody there to kill it so u can just afk wait for spawns... makes me regret I turned my main back to stamblade from tankblade.

I've seen up to 8 iron atros from a single blue dragon under a slow-dps burn. Every 2nd time he goes up on his perch, they will spawn. Just have to get a group with (perhaps intentionally) low dps.

Now that the release rush for achievies is mostly over, pug dragon groups are smaller and you'll see more atros drop.

There is a daily delve that provides them as well; I forget the name, but it's the one where you must put out the braziers in front of portals (now and again, they are activated, resulting in one iron atronach as a 'last mob' through the gate).

The longer the fight takes, the more spawns you will see. Happened to me late night on last Saturday: the group fighting the dragon was small so the fight took a lot longer than it usually takes during "prime time". Iron atronachs spawned 3 times.

Achievement where people feel is just a pure grind to artificially keep on hunting dragons can backfire as very few would want to keep on and repeat something that is nearly in contradiction to how large World Bosses like Dragon works: the are killed as fast as possible because of other the number of players which also have high damage (zerg mechanic) and other achievements that are built around this like collecting motifs and rewards. Thanks for that suggestion!

Only problem with that dungeon that have a daily quest is that those Atro seem to be killed very fast, so one really need to watch when those spawn.

If this works, then one could create groups and share this quests to farm those Iron Atro to finish this achievement.

Blue and black might as well depends on settings for colour, gamma and light (brightness and contrast) as at some stages blue look black when it is enough darkness light settings combined with level of gamma. There are settings that control this in Windows (for PC), in video cards drivers, on display itself and in game. So there several places where how dark something need to be to look "black" vs "blue". In summertime and during day time you most likely set up your brightness (light) to a higher degree then during winter which would make some colour look much brighter then normal or get tint of another colour which you don't see when the room or place you sit in is lit up.


As far I can tell from looking on wiki images for how Iron Atronach look, they have very similar look to fire atro just are larger in general. Never thought those two larger Atro where Iron and not Flame atro....

This is turning me mad. This is NOT something you can f****n calculate or anything. First problem is grey dragon spawns are almost less than half of red dragon spawns. And second problem is when they spawn they can be soooooooooooooooo easily nuked that you have to be the luckiest person in the entire earth to see them fly and those atros spawn. Dude people just nuke them. Not even their fault they can do whatever the sh!t they want with a public mob/boss.

There has to be these dumbest ideas from ZOS in every single patch i swear. Just stop being that dumb dude.

They're gray, end of discussion. I don't understand how this is even a debate, but I guess not everyone has a decent machine to play on (that's the only way I can rationalize seeing other colors, because colorblindness doesn't add colors where there aren't any).

I'm plenty interested in getting achievements and your argument could be made for the stupid trophy achievements as well. It's a grind, so what? If you want something NOW, call J. G. Wentworth.

I've killed 8 in two weeks of doing dragon hunts almost every day. They rarely get to spawn and this achievement is getting moldy

They should just increase spawn to 6 atro and speed up the moment when the dragon is creating them. So they would be more in linę with other atros

Hm, I'm not sure that's accurate, but will double-check. I have 60/100 and I promise you, I've not been that busy on the dragon cycle.
