Champion Point Update
The Champion Point cap will not be increased for Update 21, or subsequent updates, until further notice. We are currently investigating the best direction to take the system to have healthier balance overall for the game.

Posted/quoted from the Wrathstone DLC update patch notes, back in February: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5851010#Comment_5851010

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_RichLambert now that it has been 5 months and 2, almost 3, quarterly content updates have passed without an incremental CP cap increase. Is it possible for either of you to give us, the players, an update on the status of the 're-evaluation' of the Champion Point system? Any new communication or dialogue to share, at all?
Will there be any news or update regarding the Champion Point system at QuakeCon later this week?

Patiently waiting.

Yours truly,

I really hope they are reworking the system. As it is now, making vital choices is becoming diminished with each incrementation. I know some people want to feel a vertical progression with their characters, I'm just not in that school of thought. I want fun and engaging gameplay that works. Steamrolling things with the can do everything builds is just boring to me in both PvE and PvP.

I really hope they leave it alone. I'd also like to *finish* the loooooong grind (23.5 points to go!) before the whole system gets nerfed into oblivion.

At this point, no news is good news :p

I have no issues with steamrolling old content as long as there is new content.

It's mad fun being a demi-God; we earned it.

If it presents an issue in PvP there is no CP content. In PvE, if content is too easy, you don't have to use CP, or can use fun off-meta gear.

I know this CP re-balance is happening anyway, but I think most people are going to be disappointed by it.

Don't say that! Vet grind made me quit the first time... Only thing that made the cp grind easier was enlightenment and the gear cap staying at 160(old vr16) lol ;)

What they replace cp with, or twist it to, has to be really good. I worked too hard for cp and that demi God feel.
Also like someone said ..you just have to not use it if you want a better challenge.

If I want a new grind I'll get a new grind game.

Please zos .. be careful with this. I don't wanna be one those quitthe game people! Hahahha

I'm sure those of us with 1200+ CP will be disappointed with whatever it switches to. I'll lose being 3.5 years ahead of the cap.

That is really only applicable in vMA or when soloing World Bosses. Would be rude to gimp yourself in situations where groups depend on you performing a role.

The cp system will be converted to a crown store system: Everyone will start over at level 50, for every crown crate you buy, it'll add 10 levels on, each level will unlock a new passive that you can buy for 5 gems each. If you were at max cp, you'll get 10 gems to start with.

You will be very disappointed. The same was said when they reworked VR levels and we got CP.

It is very unlikly you will see a flat level lock to 50 with no form of vert progression.

As before we will probably see a re-scaling of growth and a new mechanism put in place that effectivly works much like the old system but differs in how it is managed.

Find a like minded group, if CP is so hated that should be easy to do.

Truth is it is not because CP is not the issue so many try to make it be.

I liked it. I also think VR would be a great thing to bring back. Along with gear levels, just not a fast gear level progression. Maybe a gear level increase appox every 18-24 months.

Also let zones level out. Not every zone needs scale as one tamrial, let some go low and some go high.

I can assure you if there is no hope of a growth system I will likely quit and many others as well.

Well I'm well past the CP cap and I really don't care much if they increased, decreased or scrapped the system altogether. As a design choice it doesn't make that much sense since it's account wide, and based on quantitative (XP grind) rather than qualitative progression. An example would be getting various meaningful character upgrades for doing various achievements, instead of purely cosmetic skins/hats/titles. Ex. having a permanent HP increase for doing vMA, gaining mitigation against players for killing a certain number from each class, gaining a damage bonus in certain BG games for winning a number of said games, gaining better faction reputation, with various perks for doing the quest in that faction instead of just the right to buy houses. This way people would be actually be rewarded for playing well, rather than mindlessly grinding dolmens or such.

Gear already does that. what you suggest is redundant. Gear is the progression for doing well. CP is the progression for just playing. AND honestly I do not see why that bothers people.

I do have a problem with making all progression based on just hard mode play only and then giving double rewards as you propose(gear and character stats). That is defining elitism and would drive the average player away.

I would love to see a better rework of cp or even a complete revamp of this system. I still think that the proposed spell crafting system will make its way into this cp, ensuring better customization.

However, I really feel that all they need to do is to just limit the input of points into one specific tree, rather than be able to put in into all. That way, you promote specializations and basically better build diversity.

The game played better though. But I have never seen a MMO leave an alternate advancement system in this state before. 5 years in MMOs with half the budget and population have managed to emerge their systems with layers class /role specific trees, actives and a slew of other features like a simple spec switch.eso is the poster child for greed meets lazy.
