Seen those mag sorc buffs coming a mile away

mag sorc the only class in the game where you're pretty much guaranteed to not get nerfed, despite how much it over performs in in various areas. It's so obvious how ZOS babies this spec.

For those who didn't bother reading patch notes

"Conjured Ward: Increased the shield size limit for this ability and the Empowered Ward morph to 50% of your Max Health from 40%. Hardened Ward is increased to 60% from 50%."

Their explanation for this buff is pretty ridiculous:
Sorcerers currently lack an ability they can utilize to heal their allies with supplemental power, such as a Heal over Time. We have some adjustments to the Power Surge morph of Surge in a future Update to help grant them such a tool!

Sorcs DO NOT NEED better healing, they have 3 shields! and with the new Healing Ward they will have plenty healing! Especially if one has the Blackrose Resto. Also don't forget the buffs to rapid regen, healing will be more than enough

    Require dodge roll to take up a bar slot and a impose cooldown before being able to recast. Yay! I too can make ill informed suggestions for skills.

    Exactly this, no magsorc in pvp is at or even near the 50% cap on live, this has no effect whatsoever for pvp. What they need to do is revert the cost increase change they introduced in patch 5.0.0. Its too costly to keep the shield up enough at 3.4k magicka (thats the cost it had with the test char on pts)

    On live I have 45k magicka, 25k hp and my shield is just shy of 11k, patch 5.1.2 changes this...nothing whatsoever.

    Mag sorc will always be fine, since it is very flexible as a class. One build path gets nerfed, lean towards another. Where something like a stamsorc gets a hard nerf if they touch literally whatever weapon tree you use.

    I think that is the point. People are already complaining that shields will be OP. But in order to even get a decent sized shield you have to sacrifice every other stat you have. Which is nonviable.

    i LOVE how pvpers just absolutely sheeeettt on anything and everything right away. you two are cute, that is just my pve easy mode sorc dps, that is built 100% for damage, to show that the ward change(increase the max health cap from 40/50% to 50/60%) is NOT going to impact pvp at all. and help pve at the same time.

    They are complaining about a change Zos made to magicka based shields in general that slightly increased the max size in general. It is not specifically a Sorc buff but OP is trying to spin it as such.

    OP seems to be ignoring the reduced damage of some abilities still on the PTS and instead is focusing on the change that affects all shields that scale off magicka.

    Yeah, I am literally not disagreeing with you. Just pointing out to others here that in order to even get that 10K shield you have to run a non-viable PVP build.

    i put "pvp pts mag sorc". if you can't wrap your head around the fact i meant "in pvp pts mag sorc", that is not my fault, as it is just literally the same toon but in pvp with battle spirit on him. you are just slow on the uptake.

    They need to do that, or every magsorc running around will have a limp noodle for a shield if they also want to be able to sustain having it up as much as it is actually needed to in pvp.

    I don't see these changes impacting most (or even any) builds shield size in PvP. The Battle Spirit shield size reduction and ease of obtaining health (prismatic) makes the health cap on shields rarely seen in PvP.

    Seems like a helpful change to shields in PvE.

    There was no buff what comes to mag sorc pvp.

    Since those people who make these claims apparently has PTS testing ability (i doubt it, they just read things and understand them poorly) then go make a functionable msorc pvp setup and check out the shield sizes and to get a clear view on top of that.. go actually test sustaining on that build in a real situation.

    Then come back and make this same claim. I dare you. :)

    I think a lot of players, Sorcs included, haven't yet realised how much of a sustain drain this is going to be. The extra regen you'll have to slot in compensation is going to lower overall damage by quite a bit.

    for context, that 37% is really ~11% difference in magic scaling, on live, hardened ward is ~47% of your max magic at base, pts is ~42%. empowered is ~39% on live, and ~31% the pts. so, 42% of your max magic for hardened vs 31% empowered on pts.

    This doesn´t help justifying the increased cost though - because it´s disconnected from reality.

    You can do a lot of build theory that has no practical use...
