There's enough feedback here on the forums letting you know that the nerf of layering heals (orbs and springs) is huge and game breaking (or at least game breaking to those of us who main healers) ... Yet your arrogance has forced us into a "prove you wrong" scenario. This "my idea is awesome, I'm going to throw it out there and force the community to prove me wrong about it's awesomeness" approach lacks the sophistication we should be able to expect from you. But fine, you want to treat your player base like this, make it worth our while. Give us hourly crowns or something. I'm a paying customer lol, I'm not going to spend my off time testing your ill conceived nerfs on the PTS unless there's something in it for me.

Usually playing the new content on the PTS allows us to also test your nerfs but the new content is just dungeons -- content we can get by without a healer on. To test your nerfs to springs and orbs alone, we would have to spend time on the PTS in trials that have been designed around layering heals -- trials that are not the new/first look type of content that draws in viewers for popular streamers.

I got a feeling that from those 13 millions ZOS reported 90% is either solo questers-overlanders or they simply don't care at all about any min-maxing and PVP. Games with much less population have dozens of streamers with high stable online and ESO looks like nobody is interested in.. I guess if you wanna develop as content maker, it's better to switch to other games.

We get to try and help the game, theory craft our new builds during each phase, it is a goldmine of info that I am happy to take part in. That is enough compensation.

If you want to wait till the pts testing is over without trying things out for yourself, then don't. Simple.

Have you tested trials on the PTS or are you just theorizing? There are a lot of theories ATM but there is a lack of actual data from testing -- probably because there is nothing in it for the players to test. Hence my suggestion to compensate testers.

if you dont want to test then dont, PTS is a two way system, while it provides live feedback from those of us who test it also allows us to test new builds, adapt to new performance changes made to our current builds, if you dont test then you will have to wait for live before you can adapt and watch a ton of youtube builds, if you test you are a step ahead for live, also it helps with the ppl that make dungeon/trial guides (those videos you look up when your stuck) without PTS these would take ALOT longer.
so in conclusion i think the rewards for spending a little time on PTS already exist

As a tester, compensation for PTS use sounds silly.

I think orbs and springs was a bit over powered but to make specifically orbs just ONE SINGLE orb at a time, idk about that. im still sticking with making it like maybe 3-4 max with the ability to reset the position of course. as for springs? idk I choose orbs over spring anyway :\

the changes to the way these heals work seems to come from a PvP aspect and I don't see why that should affect PvE players in such a critical way lol?

orbs can be activated by multiple players so 1 orb is same as throwing 3 or 4 out, huge cost reduction for healers imo, also clears the screen from over spamming the dam things

I agree with both of you for the most part, but at some point you have to ask how much of the dev team's work is passed on to the player via the PTS. Testing is a huge aspect of the development phase and this patch just screams "we didn't do our research before putting these ideas into code... let the players figure out all the issues with them" ... which is why I say fine, but compensate us for our time then.

Better game is good enough compensation for me. Plus I get free resources to test my builds.
However, I do agree with the need for better quality assurance prior to releasing things to PTS.
Throwing noodles at the wall and see what sticks is not a good long term strategy IMO. It's not alpha test after all, it's PTS.

You probably send emails to corporations asking for compensation for wearing their logos on your clothing too?

in a rudimentary development cycle, we usually go from DEV - QA - UAT - PRE-PROD - PROD.

so in MMO like ESO, QA is internal staff testing (see when *** is broken), UAT (User Acceptance Testing) is when u do closed BETA. dedicated server tested by real players. and PRE-PROD is production deployment, but not live build just yet, also done by (many more) players. kinda like smoke testing. then u go live.

see, when it's internal staff, u do get compensated. ur paid employee. ur part of the dev team.

outside of that.... when it's real player and ur in feedback cycle, u dont get compensated. u do it for ur own benefit. closed BETA. open BETA. PTS. however u name it.

i understand it feels like u SHOULD be compensated, especially if u find lotsa bugs, but really, it's often voluntary and ur doing it get early access info and provide feedback that hopefully improve ur own gameplay when it goes live... That's ur compensation. that's ur incentive.

so no, OP. as part of the end-user group, u wont get compensated, ever, for testing unreleased software. ever.

Does this patch not feel like:

ESO: I HAVE A GREAT IDEA
ESO: - codes idea into existence -
ESO: - releases idea onto PTS -
Healing Community: You just swung a major nerf bat our way <provides experience in detail>
ESO: PROVE IT ON THE PTS

... i thought I made it pretty clear it was the "prove me wrong" approach in my OP that was causing me to react by saying okay, make it worth our time then. I made a living testing software, there's no way I'd do it for free to the level they are expecting with this patch. The testing needed requires people to go through the trials to make sure they are even playable and to make sure the healer role itself (especially for all classes) is not degraded. IMHO that's too much to request of the customer -- these are subjects that should have passed the checks before t he PTS release.
