Wrong facing staves

Ok, first of all, i know this is not a major issue, its only cosmetic, but this game is all about the cosmetics, so i have to say something.

Today we got the Skull of Corruption as a cosmetic Staff-Morph... maybe, just maybe, you can tell whats not quite right about it?

This is by far not the only staff thats just facing every which way but forward, where it should be facing to imo. Am i the only one who finds this annoying and just lazy design? The only reason i could see this being in the game is as a mistake, and the designers thinking "Oh its facing in the wrong way... ah whatever, its not the only staff that does that, lets just keep it that way."

And for this one we would have to pay 3000 crowns!? For a sideways facing staff? ... How about no?

It's 1200 Crowns, and use the preview option before buying. ZOS has a policy of not going back to work on art assets after release., so it is what it is.

Oh right, it costs 3000 gold to morph, my bad, saw the wrong number. Still too much for this thing... you also cant even dye, but thats another story.

I just feel like, i would use a few staves, like Ra Gada or something, if it would face forward. It looks just stupid when you hold a staff like... that. And ZOS also had a "policy" of not adding Dragons to ESO... or making Expansions not be just DLCs... or *Insert other lies here*.

Yeah, there are plenty of staves that are facing the side and it's really annoying. It's just sad when you find good looking motif but realize that the orientation is messed which usually drops the interest for that staff (at least for me).

All that because their motif changes got backlash...

seriously who the hell gives a *** about it? there are multiple motifs, crown items, etc. which need changes. do it zos. we wont be mad on it. or if the haters will be mad. ignore them. like youre ignoring our opinions on your almighty nerfings. <3

Yea I saw that the staff was looking the wrong way. It's also not dyeable. The people making these staves are quite lazy.

On one hand I believe this might just be an oversight and it might get fixed soon: look at the bloodspawn staff, effects like ele weapon appeared perpendicular on it and now they run along the staff. Although... there's for example draugr and grim harlequin staves where their little faces are just watching our backs (and have been for a while).

My rule has always been: When I preview an item, if it does not look good, then I do not buy the item.

Yeah this effects many of the staves. I’ve never been sure if it’s intended. You have to consider every position it will be in, a lot of the ones that are sideways in Restoration Staff position (vertical in hand) end up looking good and facing forward when stored on the back. Then you have lightning staves, which are held almost horizontal, with the tip up. I’d argue these look best with the same orientation as Resto staves, and any decoration should face forward (and slightly down). Inferno staves get a little weird, since they are held below horizontal. If this faced forward on an Inferno Staff you would not be able to see it when your weapon is out. Personally I’d be fine with this, since sideways just seems wrong, but it could be the reason why so many staves don’t face forward.

The incorrect orientation of the staves is definitely the reason that has kept me from buying multiple styles. ZoS would have more of my money if they were facing the correct direction (forward IMO).

I wouldn't mind them reverting the changes on some old motifs as well. There was a phase where they covered up holes in armor because some of them showed too much skin. Think that is out the window now.

Add Grim Harlequin Staff to this list ... that’s a crown store only style by the way.

There are too many staves affected by this to name them all, its like 1/4 of ALL styles. But this one is just the thing thats too much for me. They want pure, hard cash for this piece of not-even-worth-checking-orientation-in-the-game-and-also-not-dyable crab. I just cant believe they are serious with this. I too would use/buy much more styles if they fixed/changed this ONE simple thing with a few staves! Also, looking in the preview doesnt quite work well for staves, because almost every staff is cropped at the top because the preview-window is not big enough, which also is a ridiculously lazy issue.

I would have bought this for my necro if the skull were facing forward. It's a trivial thing, sure, but if they're losing sales over it, you would think they'd want to fix it.

On a related noted, Draugr Staff, Firedrake Staff, Huntsman Staff, Mazzatun Staff, Ancient Orc Staff, and probably others, need to be rotated 90 degrees IMO. The Daggerfall Staff uses the correct orientation.
  • RecktrithiusOediphitry
And still nothing was done about that to this day. Bah, they have recently released Symphony of Blades staff which is rotated in wrong direction. No action from ZOS is quite suprising, since they are losing potential revenue, especially when we are talking about something so easy to fix. Amazing, by know there are a lot of staves nobody is using because of them being ridiculously rotated. Hey ZoS, there is money in that for you if you fix it!
