Why nerf shields again?

Why??? To balance pvp? And what about pve? People will run with 5/6k shields, from 18k pre-nerfmire to 5k post-scalenerf patch. Not a good goal Zos

    It surprised me also. I thought the last thing they would want to nerf was the sorc shields. They got nerfed to the ground already. They used to be totally OP, and they did need a nerf back before the nerfmire patch, but it was my opinion they took it too far. Now I just cast the shield as a meme mostly. The damn thing pops whenever someone sneezes on me anyway.

    So hearing the news that they intended to nerf them further rather perplexed me if I'm quite honest.

    In PvE, you won't see a change in shield size as your base value is already over the HP limit.

    Yeah to get that sort of shield you would need a ton of health right? You would need to gimp your magicka by a lot.

    We are supposed to do unlimited dodge rolls with our 9k stamina that's zos logic they break pve to balance pvp which is unplayable I don't get it why the *** they don't balance these separately!!

    They're still fine. As mentioned above the nerf doesn't even affect PvE so don't worry about it.

    Also if you have a decent amount of health (17-18k) your shields will be around 9k on live and on the PTS. Also resistance affects damage shields so they can take a hit despite the murkmire nerf.

    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Except that's getting nerfed too. And needing a shield on a glass cannon build for VMA/vet trials is not a l2p issue in my opinion. For basic survivablity, stamina have mobility, tanks have health, magicka have shields. Shields were already less effective in PvP as I understand it, so why not just make them even less so and leave PvE alone?

    How were they OP in PvE though? I'm honestly curious, since anything that hits harder than a skeever takes if off immediately. It needs to be constantly re-cast as part of your rotation, meaning a DPS drop and while none of that matters overland or in normal dungeons, if you don't refresh it continually in VMA, you're dead. Why would it even matter if it was OP in PvE? Did Molag Bal come to forums and whine that he couldn't kill the sorcs?

    vMA build are supoosed to be différent than usual build (dunjeon/trials)
    You have power surge (heal on crit) , ice hearth set, bird pet which is a flash heal, and you still need your shield ?

    That's fair, but yes I do need it, maybe I'm just not as good as you. Also it's part of the toolkit, so why not use it?

    It is in pvp where People have 30k health that the nerf will be seen

    Dont worry it will change nothing i think, but i also get your point and i dont want to be mean

    Plus, we still have some weeks on pts before they launch it on live, so perhaps they will change their mind and adjust the nerf :/
