Maintenance for the week of July 14:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – July 14
The maintenance is complete, and the PTS is now back online and patch 11.1.1 is available.

This patch is way too much at once.

I have already posted my disgust for changing item sets and they conditions they work ruining builds. This has me pissed beyond belief. This patch however is a balance nightmare. Way too many changes at one time. Very poor form. Even if some of the ideas are good its just way too much at once and is most likely going to turn into a nightmare. Outside of pet sorcs pvp wise everything feels relatively balanced some minor tweaks needed. PVE is somewhat close. You guys have worked a long time to get to this place and how you want unleash a tornado in the town of game and class balance?????? What are you guys thinking????

I rarely post here but man ohh man this patch.

I already lived that on other MMOs, like in Lotro. I think is a strategy from companies. To stay away from boredom without really adding new content. Each X time, mess everything up so it´s look like a new game and keeps players entertained. The constant buff and nerf of classes also work, keeps the player stressed and keen to a point.

As i said, nothing new in this job. Already done, and will keep being this way.

Well, ZOS announced this major overhaul early enough.

In fact last patch many were surpised about the lack of changes to weapon skills.

This will go on, when in U24 passive skills will be addressed and balance turned around again!

However, I guess after that we won't see such drastic changes for a while. If not, this whole long term combat direction thing was for nothing.

Yeah, performance and making the combat less boring. First is a miss, and we'll see about that second one.

Personal preference on your part. I would rather that they take a bold step and do what they need to do and be done with it, rather than parcel it out among several patches. I am not happy that they broke it down across as many patches as they did. I think they have a better chance of getting it right when they can do it all at once. I recognize that the team is constrained in how much they can effectively change in a single update, so doing it all in one patch is not a reasonable request.

Yes lotro did have balance changes but in the 9 years I played it, it only happened twice, and wasn't as big as this

I think your close, but I think its more to keep our minds off the game breaking bugs, server issues, etc. Not to mention it just so happens that they buff the hell out of entropy and sould trap (after 5 years mind you) so that 1. they can sell more "insta skill line level" tokens, and i think its so that everyone will use the same skills. If all classes use the same damn skills, it makes balancing for them much easier. Its the lazy way out. smh

They just added cast times to ults which are meant to be used in a short burst window in a meta where the only way you’ll ever kill someone is by bursting them down.

The combat will be the worst we’ve had in a long while. Especially with stamblades pressing bash and doing 7k proc damage next patch while being unkillable.

    Back to Morrowind we go.

OP has a point, even if for a lot of reasons he maybe missed. This patch is kinda universally sucker punching everyone really hard, and for no good reason, except for a very small portion of pvp-only players.

And making all these giant negative and unpopular changes at once, announcing them only about a month after an expansion that went well... Wtf? I thought ZoS liked money and large player population (which means more money)... We certainly all like calling them "Zo$" enough. Or do they just figure this is when people start to lose interest anyways, may as well hit us all hard now and get it done with?

I agree, and they didn't even touch that many item sets that were used, most of them are pretty good changes to otherwise dead sets.

    Disagree,

Let’s use the ravager set as the example and put it on a stamina sorcerer. We upgraded this set to gold and play only a moderate amount so it took nearly all of our resources to do so.

Set was 8 percent chance on hit to gain roughly 650 damage. Weapons used typically were duel wield bow, or duel wield 2h. Worked fine.

Now it’s changed to apply a breach effect and gain X damage per application. As a Stam sorc how do I get this breach??? It’s not in my tool kit??? I now have to use sword and board to get that result??? You effectively killed my build. Not all classes are created with the same tool sets. This would have much less effect on a Stam DK who can spam breath...

So you took the build and character I worked so hard on and spent so many resources on and effectively wrecked him. Why??? Was the set considered over powered?? Fine tone down the numbers some. Under powered??? Tone them up. Don’t take tons of the players time and energy and scrap them.

Note this is just one case there are more. Fundamentally changing how sets work without doing a numbers massage really has a large impact on specific class types especially.

If the new set bonus you really think is a good idea??? Fine put it on a new set for an expansion.

I really really don’t like feeling like something in game I worked hard for is changed on a whim.

I also think this applies to things like pack leader changes. People do not like being jerked around patch by patch. Saying suddenly ohh pack leader is utility and brings minor maim!!!!! Who the hell is going to pick that when WW is typically played as a damage option??? Fortunately this is a bit easier to fix for the player by respecing to berserker than an entire set change.

Healing changes??? Some classes have the tools to mitigate healing springs changes. Others don’t. It’s touched on in other forums so I will leave that discussion there.

I have played MMOs since UO. I get how this stuff works, but these changes are in my opinion to radical and too many at once. They do not take all classes/roles into consideration with the tools needed to mitigate them thus leaving clear imbalance in who will get picked for specific roles.

ZOS hasn't been able to make these changes that are over due because of the previous combat balance person. Now that he is no longer at the company they have more room to progress and work on things that needed to be done awhile ago.

Except we have new content literally every three months like clockwork... And events on top of that. No real need for what you say, based on mixing things up to avoid new content. I agree this is a common strat, but it's hardly the case on ESO.

Clumping a lot of unpopular changes at once is a smart Machiavellian strategy.
People tend to have short memories, so put them all together instead of stringing them out.
If you divide it over time you just get angry people constantly.

Conversely, if you have good things, spread them out. People don't remember the last good thing you did for them (free crates?) so give it out periodically.

This was an announced change by a new dev lead and honestly changes have been too slow in the past as well.
