I know this isn't on PTS yet, but seriously, WTF is going on here?
A lot of the upcoming mechanical changes look really great, but these numerical changes to DPS are far too large in magnitude. In what universe is a ~40% nerf EVER "reasonable"? Is this dev team ever going to learn moderation and nuance? Not every problem needs a sledgehammer.
From patch notes: "Many Damage over Time abilities, both single target and Area of Effect, have been re-standardized to follow similar behaviors to other ability types. Area of Effect DoTs will now be 33% weaker than a single target DoT counter-part and cost 30% more, just like direct damage AoEs vs single target ones."
See, I agree with this concept mechanically. AOE should do less damage and cost more. Cool. But the magnitude of the difference is so extreme that it'll completely crush all of the mid-tier players (75% of the player base) who are finally getting a shot at completing some of the high-end vet content. Try some sensible moderation and see what 15% less damage and 15% higher cost looks like before going to such game-breaking extremes.
