Very well said OP and I completely agree with you.

I made a very long thread back in February that clearly detailed the pain points by what I consider to be the Mid-Tier of players of ESO. Those who are the ones most affected by the constant nerfs and the need for continued Progression for the Mid-Tier and lower players who aren't as skilled as the much fewer upper tiered players.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/458667/progression-atrophy-the-need-for-power-creep-in-eso-other-pain-points-for-middle-tiered-players/p1

The devs clearly aren't listening to the right players. Math doesn't account for all playstyles, it just tells you what the top players can achieve under the right circumstances, but when more than 90% of your player base can't come anywhere close to those numbers, then you shouldn't be balancing the game around the top 10%. Nor should you be exclusively listening their feedback on what they say are the pain points for those they play with either. This is why so many feel the Class Rep program doesn't properly represent them.

Nerfs need to stop. It's been proven time and again that nerfing skills, classes, etc does nothing to lower the ceiling and raise the floor. Players are getting tired of it. Don't want players going over a certain DPS threshold, then put a hard cap on the DPS! VSSHM requires 40k dps, then cap dps at 50k, which allows for more skills players to have some room to help compensate for players unable to meet the 40k requirement. Oh.. and by the way.. that is a 40k magicka requirement. Stamina requirement is 45k for VSS in Trials Progression Guilds.

At what point, are the devs going to stop and ask themselves, how can we fix this game without hurting the greatest amount of our player base? Players are tired of the Whiplash from the consistent heavy handed changes!!! I just don't bother any more. I don't enjoy this game like I used to. And the more they "streamline" things, the more I feel this game is moving away from the Elder Scrolls feel to just another generic MMO. BORING!!

When are they going to admit they need to completely separate PVP and PVE skill and rule sets. When are they going to admit, they actually need work at removing Animation Cancelling or reworking it so that it doesn't cause such a large skill gap between players who can use it with Light Attack weaving. Yes, this is where a majority of the DPS gap is coming from. Those who are skilled at Light Attack weaving with Animation cancelling and those who can't do it, especially with the new sets having been released that take advantage of this skill like Relequens, etc.

Far too many characters to list any more.

I agree it will hurt lower tier players by far much more than high tier… I thought all update changes were for new players, now they want them to only play Overland content!?!

@mslavia agree they need to pick a lane and ZOS needs to stay in it.

I want to bring this thread back to the front, because it makes a very good point: the AOE changes make the game less fun for beginner and intermediate players.

I’ve done the hard trial content back when 32k dps parses were the top top. If you pulled 20k you were in the end game guilds for pve. Since those days the power creep is redonkulous. I mean honestly. First time doing HRC HM went through the mechanics and lived and beat the boss. Just last week did it and all we had to do was burn him down. The power creep needs to be fixed.

How about new content? vSS has DPS check of 40K to be able to clear.

It is easier to re-tune and re-balance PvE AI in an encounter (dungeon/trial/arena) than balance skills between, among and against other players. A good dev co will adjust the content scaling while keeping the base mechanics in PvE encounters relevant, if a major skill re-balance happens. ...For example, vSS dps check can be retuned to 35k or 30 k dps check thru existing scaling mechanics. This lowers the ceiling for non top tier players and makes the encounter dobale...thereby solving power creep and PvP balance while not increasing the gap between for example, Hodor and an average progression trials guild. I hope ZoS does this.
This argument doesn't help your cause. What's the difference from them retuning old content sho you can't just burn?

Agree, but actually i think this patch will be good if things get a bit harder, PvE wise.

My only concern is class balance, Stamina builds will widen the gap with magicka builds. Some classes will lose a lot of flavour or efficiency, and some will be even "banned" from certain roles. At least to me, that goes agaisnt the spirit of this game.

    Very nice post.
And with dots changes all mag classes lose their identity. We don't need to choose if we want play sorc or dk or templar, just pick up any class and lvl dots from common skill lines because they way stronger now than class abilities and class abilities not worth to slot anymore(with minority of exceptions).

It actually appears to have shrunk. The new meta is just DoT stacking static rotations. LA > DoT > LA > DoT > LA > DoT > etc.

    Same build for every class.
