Crown Item: Character Anchor for Player Housing

I can only imagine the amount of coding this might require, as such, it is being presented as a Crown Item.

The idea is simple, you log into a character and bind it to a spot inside one of your homes (e.g. sitting idle). The character then remains, even after logging out, and will take a player capacity slot as a visitor. The name plate would turn to an NPC and the character would not be interact-able. This can be done for as many characters as you wish, with the crown item/unlock being used for each one. However, a character can only be bound to one home and not multiple. If a character who is anchored logs in, they simply disappear from the home until logged back out.

    This has been requested before.
I too would like to have my characters set up in my home.
But I don't wanna pay for it. Should be free if implemented

Im sure the tokens could be added in monthly rewards, for those who dont want to pay.

I would love that. They could also be handled like pets/mounts and placed somewhere, sitting on furniture or just idle/playing an emote.

Wonderful idea, I´d love to see it implemented. Don´t forget to vote for it:

It would be great to anchor them and assign custom emotes, like lute playing. Thus we could turn our own characters into bards in our houses.

I'd go ahead and make them intractable too. They can act like bankers (and be placed in our homes like them) and I can transfer items to and from them when I interact in my home with them.

Basically, they could just be models that match your character generation settings and populate your home.

We have a very drastic shortage of living beings that we can place in our homes, often making feel desolate.

It does not have to be anything so complicated.

If you log out in a house, the character should remain there. It can just idle until you load it up again, but until then, anyone in the house will see it idling.

I expect that nothing like this is on any ZOS road map, though.

This would be HUGE for player immersion, making it feel like all your Alts actually live within the same world. Also, I would love to be able to walk up to a placed Alt and switch characters without having to log out and back in. Thanks in advance ZOS 🙏

Yea this would be awesome but maybe difficult to implement since your character is tied to your account and essentially doesn't exist on the server when you are offline.

Visitors to your house wouldn't see your characters unless you were there. Just like they don't with the one-at-a-time situation we currently have.

Hmm. Good point, I guess I am trying to make our characters "pieces of furniture" not really tied to our account. The caveat is that it reacts to our account activity.

ZOS could turn the character into an NPC, similar to what is done with the merchant and banker, while the character is not in use by the account. They would have to retain the body shape and outfit/gear and apply it to the NPC. That sounds a lot easier than it probably is to implement, but it is not impossible.

(Thinking about this in more detail, the more interesting part of such a solution would be that point where the player leaves, and enters, the character and how that would appear and he handled by the game from the perspective of anyone watching)

The idea suggested would require more sever load than a piece of furniture as the server needs to remember the location of the player character even when it is not located in the home.

For the same reasons our furnishings per home are capped where they are and the specific reasons Zos has said they will not implement a furniture bag I do not see this happening.

I would even be happy with a special home that allowed this exclusively, sorta like the Harborage.

I see it as being equivalent to a mount or assistant being placed in the house. It could even be capped, as such.

Would not be better to have your characters background based on your last zone/location? like you was in Summerset so your backgriound is alinor, or the coast of summerset at shimmerene.
or you was in morrowind, and your background is balmora or vivec or...
    etc.
