Can we please have our characters join different guilds? (sometimes I need a break from my guildies)

I need a break sometimes from my social guild or my pvp guild. Some days I just want to be quiet and invisible. I tend to leave lots of guilds because of this. There are days or even weeks I can be super energetic and upbeat but when I'm not at my best, socialising with a group of loud, hyped up guild members can be daunting. And some people take offence if you are not chatty for a day or two. I meet some amazing people so please dont take my comment the wrong way. I like people and team work but i also need my own secluded space where noone knows what i am doing or where i am. I cannot hide in eso. It's either all or nothing.

I think it would benefit many of us to be able to have different characters in a variety of guilds. Say on mondays i have low energy and just want to be on my fishing guild on one of my alts...thursdays night and friday night pvp guild and saturday nights or sunday i may just want to focus on my trials guild and chat about gear or whatever. I could also have my different faction characters in their appropirate faction guilds and maybe a lowbie alt in a newer guild that is starting out doing dungeons etc.

I know we can have upto 5 guilds but that is my point 5 guilds and we are forced to have every character in all those guilds. Yes i know i can just have the one guild too but that is not a solution.

I do not want to play solo or join a solo guild sometimes i crave social events and laughter and fun and team work etc but i also need seclusion badly. It is vital for my mental health to sometimes just do quiet activities on eso.

Change your status to disconnected? It's a bandaid fix, but at least, you're less likely to offend people?

I agree OP. In other MMOs my healer had guilds and friends, my hunter/ranger had none. So when I wanted to be left alone I’d log onto any character but the healer. When I realized ESO was account based I was really sour for a long time. Didn’t join a guild for almost 2 years, until well after 500 cp. I still don’t like it but now I just set myself to offline when I want to quest or do housing. I’m in a full guild for loners so when I see 40/498 online I know there’s at minimum 20 who are just set to offline lol

Turn yourself offline as was somewhat suggested earlier. I seriously doubt Zos is going to redesign the system so guild membership is character based.

This is why we have "offline mode" & "do not disturb."

You can also turn off guild chat in your chatbox.

If your guildies can't understand that sometimes you need "alone" time then that's an issue with them.

I also don't think ZOS has an issue with people having a 2nd account ($6-10) as long as you don't multi-box (use both at the same time).

They would need to incrase guild sizes to handle all the alt juggling.

On topic though, nothing wrong with not engaging when you don't feel like it. Change your status to offline, that is what it's there for. Alternatively you can simply say you aren't in the mood. No harm, no foul.

Simply set your status to offline and turn off all chats. It's just that simple.

Just use the status settings, eg Online, away,do not disturb, offline.

I regularly use the do not disturb when I am doing writs(because I will be changing characters a lot I don't keep up with the chat) or something I don't feel like dropping to join in a guild activity, I still respond to whispers though and join in guild chat from time to time.

I am in 5 trade guilds with some members I know only cycle there status to online once a week to make sure there not kicked for inactivity. I am not going to remember most of my guild mates names not when each of the guilds I am in are at or near capacity, mostly end up remembering the officers and a few individuals in each guild.

I pay my dues, and sometimes help out people I know, other than that, I play the game as I want to, its my free time I am going to use it for whatever stupid stuff I feel like.

No rule anywhere saying you have to be social all the time, what do people expect? if we all had great social skills we would not be spending so much time playing the game.

How would a character join a different guild, when the Guild does not register character names? It registers the account name.

You are asking for a major rework here, on the Zos end.

Yep, this is a huge downside of these kinds of games that tie everything to your @Identification and allow multi-guilding. I put up with guilds a lot longer in SWTOR because I could always hop on a new toon, far away from everything and everyone, and just do my own thing in the peace and quiet without someone harping on me to do some conquest goal or chat. I never put alts in the same guild, ever :D

You couldn't pay me to touch guilds ever again in this game. The trading guild I was in for a while was bad enough.

Sometimes you need downtime. Sometimes you need not to have everyone pounce on you at once. Sometimes, you just need to be anonymous and do your own thing. And sometimes is a lot longer for some people than others ;)

OP, I feel similarly as well sometimes, I'm very introverted so socializing gets draining sometimes. I try to be present by saying 'hello', but I don't always feel up to engaging in discussions. Thankfully, I never had an issue, or people taking offence about it, in any of my guilds. Your suggestion about having characters in different guilds sounds nice, but I don't know how diffucult it would be for such a feature to be added in the game at this point, however, people have been asking for more guild slots for a long time now, so that at least could happen. The only things I could recommend is the offline status mode, like others mentioned above, when you're feeling like playing unobstructed, or also perhaps joining a specialized guild for solo-ers, or people with socializing difficulties, where you wouldn't be misunderstood for not participating in the social ascpect of the guild so much.

While I sympathise with how you feel, I do not really see that there is a problem to solve here and you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I am a member of several, large guilds. No one is under any pressure to communicate or socialise at any time, in any of them. If I want to play solo or silent, I do. If I want to socialise, I do.

So for instance I can run group content and simply tell the group, "hey, not on the mic today". No one bats an eyelid. Or I can just not bother interacting or playing with anyone in these guilds, I can do this for days, weeks even, and no one has an issue. When I reemerge, everyone is friendly and welcoming - nice to see you again, hey how you been, etc.

I hope you find a good, supportive and friendly guild :)

Have just started using 'offline' mode. Also, I play on the 'other' server. Multiple chat tabs with different settings help as well.
I've got 2 (trading) guilds on their own tab because the chat in them drives me round the twist. Have a tab with only NPCs on it... there's plenty ways to 'escape' ;)

I know what you are saying here, I'd like to be able to silence text chats. In essence when I'm PvPing that guilds chat is vital, but less so when I'm elyswer (see what i did there?)

Likewise i have a trader guild that's one of the best but recently had an influx of Epeen warriors who seem to want to fight all the time in Text Chat

    There's a time and a place etc

Not how the game is set up...
    How-ever...
...could we get an option to "disable" the guildishness for this or that alt???

Just an added option to for having some alts not take part in this or that guild chat and online-showing for the guild roster... have a list for each guild of your various characters, and then check if they should be "active" in that guild or not.

Oh I can't wait to join my five guilds on 18 characters separately and learn every guild members few dozen character names to even find them. What a great idea! Might I suggest developing some social skills instead? It's not like you can't go offline, turn of chat or simply ignore people.
