Why is the Skeletal Mage/Archer so weak?

I mean, I understand that pets shouldnt be broken or stuff, but even compared to other (BTW, PERMANENT) pets in the game, they are just... well, a waste.

Every other Pet in the game deals more damage than they do, and they all come with bonuses, the Sorcerer Pets can heal you and others, can get a DPS Boost or a nice AoE burst, the Warden Bear can knock enemys down, and the Direwolfs from the Werewolf Pactleader Morph are immortal...
And keep in mind, they have that while being permanent pets and dealingt more damage than the Skeletal mage morphs.

Meanwhile the Skeletal mage deals less dmg than a blocked light attack, and... well, thats it. One morph does this non existing dmg in a small AoE, the other gets 10% more damage if they attack the same target twice, and even with that 10%, the damage isnt even close to what other pets do...

And other than Blastbones, its not even a bug, they are supposed to do so little dmg... and my question is just why? Spirit Mender and Blastbones after fix both do their job well, but the Damage summon is just...

If ZOS doesnt want them to have high damage, thats fine, but give them something else than. Like for example let the Magica morph debuff the enemy to take more spell damage, make the stamina Morph a melee Skeleton that taunts enemys...

I mean, just give us anything that makes this ability worth slotting, because right now, its not...

Its not a pet really. Its just a small DoT. Just like the mender is a HoT and not another twilight.

yeah, could be buffed a bit...feels really "meh" to use...or at least give it some interesting "activate" ability like the sorc pets

honestly, a really bad DoT... I mean... the Passive bleeding debuff from the Dual Wield and Two Handed Skilltree does more damage each second...

Skeletal Archer is the second strongest single-target DoT in the game.

The templar, warden, and nightblade dots are noticeably stronger at least when it comes to the raw tooltips. No idea how they perform with all the raid buffs and scaling, i'd have to check logs.

Since it does physical damage, is it buffed by the Deadly Strike set?

    Here come the crocodile tears.
The joke: The skeletal mage deals a lot more damage than the twilight tormentor + is aoe and only costs 1 slot as opposed to 2. And it is widely known, that the tormentors active component is not reapplied during pve dps becaue it is not worth it.
Say again that the Skeletal mage is bad? Sorcerer pets are worlds worse and more demanding to maintain due to barspace.

The reason for the pets is so you can get that sweet dismember passive 1500 penetration is nothing to sneeze at.

Yes, buff my stalking blastbones from ca. 8k damage on hit to something like 20k for the same magica pool, lol.
As for pets, author, just look at the passives. If i do remember correctly, minions count as DoT, triggering 15% damage DoT increase passive. Also they trigger penetration passive skill (another damage increase) while active, sustain passive skill and what not. Spirit guardian adds damage mitigation. It is imho wrong to compare necro minions with sorc pets, they work differently.

So I don't mind, add damage to them, make my favorite class even stronger, I will be happy to be OP.
Let's be extremely precise in our use of terms.

    ^^ this.

can't compare a 1 bar slot pet that does more dmg than a 2 bar slot pet that does less dmg. tell you what, i'll trade right now - give me the necro skeleton using only 1 slot on my sorc and I'll hand over the flappy bird so you can be happy with the "better" permanent pet.

dont forget the passives that are coming with it

And that the mage is almost like the scamp and twilight combined because of its aoe. So it is like 1 slot for what sorcerer needs 4 slots. At least when it comes to aoe.

Good that I remind myself why I dropped sorcerer pets entirely. They are not worth it for what they cost.

And of course most necro 'pets' drop corpses to power up your other abilities.
