Is the chest run on VSS a violation against TOS?

I was asking people in area chat is that’s a bannable offense. Half said yes, half said no.

I guess in Vet Sunspire on console, you can skip bosses to get to chests and people are farming for the sets from the trial that way instead of running it fully. I was trying to figure out why no one was hosting nSS since launch. It took us 20 minutes to find a full group for normal because everyone is running the chest runs.

@Mr_Walker Well, you don’t need to worry about performance if you are banned, eh? I just want to know if I can do it without a chance at being banned or not.

honestly ZOS makes it up as they go along i recalled the whole crit rush/ teleport striking into keeps fiasco that got people banned and unless you were a regular forum goer you could easily have mistaken this as working as intended but its not and people got suspended for it.

the Vss chest farm should be fine since your not going out out of the map or using 3rd party hacks/mods etc the player should never be punished for developer incompetence.

@RebornV3x But people have been banned for a thing developers missed that made it live. Example: the TelVar case.

its a shame an account role back or something would have sufficed for the Telvar thing but to ban people outright for that was wrong as i said the player shouldn't be punished for dev incompetence but ZOS has a spotty enforcement record and isn't consistent at all but the VSS farming should be fine.

@RebornV3x I agree. I disagreed on the TelVar issue but it is what it is. I just hope someone from ZOS clears this.

It was sad waiting a full week for a nss group because everyone’s doing the vet chest farming and I, personally, feel it’s a sketchy way to retrieve the items so I been avoiding it. But maybe it’s safe to do it? I don’t know. It’s easier to find a vet chest run than a normal full run...

SS was actually pretty fun, been here since beta and it was the first trial I ever completed. To be honest there’s really nothing you get from a vSS chest run that you couldn’t get doing easy normal mode if you’re willing to upgrade the gear. It’s mostly a matter of time / effort, and the chest runs allow you to roll the dice more frequently. IMO there are probably a lot of people experiencing this trial only because of chest runs, which may actually draw them to do the whole thing one day.

Personally I don’t care if they leave it or change it, but if there are no exploits then it should not be a bannable thing.

I would not mind if it would have been bannable. Dont kill bosses, still get loot, exploit. But sadly that is not how it works..
Zos dun goofed that one.
Chest should have been placed in the hallway up the last boss, so you at least had to kill yolnahkrrin and lokkestiiz. Or rather no chests at all.
But I am just an elitist -snip-hole, so what do I know.

But ZOS afaik didn't punish any of the port to FG1 nRandom exploiters, so I'd say no this is not a bannable offence.

This isnt even an exploit as nothing had to be done even outside the normalcy of the instance to get the chests.

It's just bad design by the developers which they realized and patched out.

It’s a special inducement to purchase.. Buy now and get your chest runs in before it’s patched and your freebies are locked behind actually doing content.

The idea that the trial designers didn’t realise that you could loot all the chests without doing any of the bosses is ridiculous. Clearly they knew the best way to sell units is to provide an easy back door to BiS gear to early adopters.

Console version will be dealt with in the next patch (assuming ZOS haven’t destroyed the entire game by then).

The overall theme for ZOS seems to be, "would you reasonably know you're exploiting?"

In the case of slipping past bosses, that's something that's done elsewhere already. It's not encouraged, but it's not against the rules. Though, it wouldn't surprise me if Finn tweaked the aggro systems on the two dragons to prevent this in the future.

Compare this to the IC XP bug someone mentioned earlier. You were getting millions of XP off of each mob pull. No matter what you could have said, you knew you were exploiting a bug, and ZOS came down on the people who abused that while it was there.

Or, compare this to the vAS+3 bug, where people were outside the arena (there's actually three or four different exploits on this theme, so we'll lump them together.) Again, there's no possible way you could have looked at a new trial boss standing there, doing nothing, while you plinked it down for more than an hour, and thought, "yep, working as intended."

With the FG1 exploit, there were a lot of people who, legitimately, didn't understand it was an exploit, and thought it was just a clever read of the rules for the random normal system. Prior to the Undaunted event, there wasn't much call for it, because Random Norms are pretty much popcorn to most people. But, with the event last year, this got a lot of attention, because people were just knocking it out in minutes and going to their next character.

As I understand you only got imperfect in chests anyway so you could just do normal.
And some dungeons like city of ash has been standard to chest hunt

If you don't feel comfortable doing it than don't. Honestly it is just going to water the game down for those who do it. Gives them one less thing to do in the game.

It just sucks not getting a group together for normal because no one wants to do it when you can skip and get more done by the chest runs. I asked in all 4 of my guilds and only got 2 people. Eventually went in with 11 people and I healed/DPS to make sure the group and tanks were getting healed at the dragons since it was a majority of our first times running the trial.

It's a fancy "Trial", and there's certain type of insufferable busybody who gets butthurt about stuff like that.
