So I rolled a Magsorc ...

While everyone else was rolling new necromancers, I figured now would be as good a time as any to level an alt as well. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve played a Magplar about 99% of the last few years, so despite me having (now) 9 characters, most of them were still essentially untouched level 3s.

So I decided that before I leveled my necromancer I should probably finish power leveling the Magsorc I started like 2 years back that had been sitting at level 37.

Here is what I learned as I got to level 44 by killing wasps and deckhands last night.

Nerf Magsorc.

No ... I kid, I kid. It’s fine but wow, you guys have it easy AF. The Magsorc meta rotation is ridiculously intuitive and easy to pull off. I knew what it would be from years of being bursted by a purple cloud as I’m rooted and getting smashed with a crystal at the same time. From the other side it looks like skill ... from the Magsorc side it’s like the least skill based thing I’ve ever done in this game.

Magsorc is just easier.

And while normally the reaction should probably be “just wait till you PVP” I had 300,000+ AP on the character from 2 years ago. Levels 10 to 37 where actually done in Cyrodiil.

In a nutshell I think my Magsorc - who has like 50 skill points total might wipe the floor with my Magplar that has 300 something. I feel like I just decided to take remedial math after a semester of advanced trigonometry.

How about instead we make the other classes not be unintuitive trashbags to play?

Riding a well designed bicycle: intuitive, feels natural even though it isn't, is enjoyable to do for long periods of time.

Riding a poorly designed bicycle made by idiots: constant PITA, feels like work just to go in a straight line, is 'challenging' and more difficult only because it is mediocre and slapped together badly.

I personally find templar to be a terribly designed class that's not at all comfortable or intuitive to play.

Higher skill ceiling? Sure. So is trying to run while wearing your shoes on the wrong feet and pants that are eight sizes too large.

    Doesn't make it fun.

Agreed. This is definitely more of a why did you make Magplar so difficult and unwieldy thread than the opposite. Magsorc seemed to just be free-flowingly easy to use.

My Magplar is basically an amalgamation of guild skills with a heal and an execute. I could probably play Magsorc with just class skills. It’s bizarre.

As a templar main, I don't think that any classes should be nerfed because they are too easy to play or something. Instead, they should make other classes more viable and less clunky.

    Agreed 100%

Anything I said about nerfing Magsorc’s was just for laughs. All of the classes should flow like that.

I play on PC and Xbox, but 95% of my time is in cyrodiil on Xbox and... magsorcs are just dominant right now. I’ve completely redone my nightblade build because I couldn’t kill them and have consistently had death recaps full of sorc skills. On that note, I’m excited to get back in with my sorc! Can’t beat em join em...

had this too, i tried all classes both stam and mag. Magsorc is the easiest and the strongest. Why don't we all play magsorc then? Cuz we like a challenge maybe, or because we like more the niche playstyle. Other classes are also good, but in fewer situations. A magsorc may not be able to beat a magblade, unless slots Boundless Storm or use specific counters that makes the user sacrifice something else.

This. All those class skills buff you too because of well designed, useful sorc passives. Devs were out of ideas when they got to templar passives, they were like "whatever, just use the passives to buff the active skills that nobody uses because they aren't very good skills."

The game was design as Temp healer - DK tank - Stam NB - Mag Sorc. So yes these original setups are still very strong today... However the game offers a lot of flavors and that is nice. If we al wanted it easy we would all play magsorc but we don't

There's always people who are good at a class and do kill a lot of players.

You could probably teach a five year old to play either magplar or sorc, however kids, crumbs and tea are not recommended around keyboards. Mine are a few years older that and understand the concept of a 'rotation'.

The dickiest thing about sorcs is they have a high kill ratio because their no brainer, fire and forget crap steals everybodies KB's and like nb's, they just bugger off under pressure.. yawn and the fact that a pet of theirs can be 45 degrees from my los, have the sorc tab'd and it hits the freakin pet.. i mean ffs lol

This is crazy. Mag sorc is by far the most difficult class to excel on. It takes jedi level reflexes, other worldly dexterity, and superhuman cognition to execute the rotation and situational awareness required to do well on Magsorc. If you had success initially it is because you were pug stopping and fighting under leveled and under geared players. Mag sorc has been the most ill-equipped class since launch and the forum still tries to get them "balanced" because somebody that has dedicated countless hours honing their skills displays the ability to occasionally 1vx on said mag sorc. You need to reconsider your position and actually learn the intricacies of the class before making such rash posts. The people who are good at mag sorc are good because they are skilled in the inner workings of eso on a level that most could never hope to grasp. They are the level of player we aspire to be, the golden standard if you will. A good mag sorc is more than a good player they are a good man/woman. a good human, a defender, a protector, a philanthropist, a conversationalist...we don't deserve mag sorcs.

Nice leap there. At what point did “easier to play” become “I can wipe everyone with 3 buttons”? You’ll still need a modicum of skill, but it’s clearly easier to achieve this level as a Magsorc than what appears to be any other class combo.

Then again, maybe you stink at ESO.

The whole class is fire and forget. Curse, root, frag and then they all explode in the middle of a light attack you added in. Sure, many people can survive it, I have hundreds of times, but go ahead and tell me the super awesome opening skill that Magplars have? Oh wait ... there isn’t one. Let along 3 that all stack damage and smash someone for like 40k at once.

But at least we have radiant ... which I’m now discovering might not actually be as good as Mage’s Wrath.

But thanks for telling me to be safe. Was that the next part of the Geneva Convention after the section that says you can say whatever you want as long as you say “with all due respect?”
