New cat assistants.

I feel like I already know the answer to this question but I figured there's still hope for clarification.

For those of us who already own the Merchant and the Banker, will there be an option to upgrade to this new style or will it be an entirely separate purchase?

I mean...I'm going to buy them anyways because I'm weak and they're freaking cats! But it would be nice for those of us who have already spent crowns on the previous versions to get some consideration.

I suspect the answer is not the one we are hoping for, shame as I like them but I'm not spending to replace the merchant and banker I already have!

It is disappointing they will not sell them as skins for those who already have the assistants. It would seem to have been a no brainer. However, Zos might be technically challenged in this area. After all there is a reason Zos has held off on the upgraded banker and merchant that came to light a while ago. People got upset they would have to buy the assistants all over again so Zos said they were rethinking it.

The banker and merchant are literally in a category called Upgrades. A pity we can't upgrade...maybe they'll change their minds?

Had these been 'skins' at a lower price, I'd have bought both. But another 5k each for the same functionality - nope. Lost a sale there, well done, you greedy marketing peeps.

I bet I'm not the only one thinking this, either.

I'd have loved to turn my existing ones into cats. I am a crazy cat lady. But I am not a crazy cat lady with bottomless funds to throw at you.

It stinks that they never released new bankers/merchants before now because of being afraid of people complaining, though. No one is forced to buy new assistants, or any at all.

I really want them but already have the banker and merchant, and considering how expensive they are I can't see paying that AGAIN to get the same functionality. Hate it but, hard pass.

They are out of their minds if they think I'll pay full price ($100?) for these when I have already paid the same high price for the originals.

ZOS is bonkers not to offer these as lower priced skins for those who already own the banker & merchant.

It would be a nice move if ZOS would consider at least ESO+ subscriber the option to morph their assistance at will.

I held out for 3 years because I refused to buy Nuzimeh out of principle.. I was hoping for the male Imperial and female Altmer, but cats will do nicely until they release the Arteaum pack rat.

As much as I'd love to have these assistants, there's no way I'm paying 10K crowns after paying 10K crowns for the originals. Like many others, I would have paid for an upgrade, but buying the same functionality with a different skin all over again is a hard no.

What they should have done is just make everyone buy the originals for 5,000 each if they want the functionality, whether they want the original appearance or not.

The additional appearance options, which would be available at a lower price (2,000 crowns for example), would start out grayed out in the store but become purchasable after you've bought the originals.

Yes, the people who only want the alfiq (or whatever future skins come along) will complain that they're buying merchants they don't use, but it makes it fair for everybody for the remainder of the life of the game without blatantly gouging those who have already paid 5,000 (x2) crowns for the functionality. but now want to use a different skin.

Upgrading them might be challenging technically, and people might like to keep the original versions, however, there is no reason why they can't offer these two new assistants at a discount to those who bought them in the past. Oh wait, there is a reason: complete disregard of customer satisfaction in favour of profit

I think it's the other way round? The Imperial is the merchant and the Altmer is the banker, iirc.

Nevermind - I looked it up again and it is Imperial banker and Altmer merchant. I guess I was thinking it would be nice to have a change with a male merchant and female banker. Ah well...not like I was going to buy them anyway. I really like Tythis and Noxema is ok. Would rather have the Altmer, but not for another 5k crowns. Plus, she looks like she should be tending bar.

If there was an upgrade or reskin option for 900-1000 crowns, I'd consider it.

This is going to make very few players happy, though some will re-purchase, the majority won't and it seems a lose lose to me.

I'm glad that I never bought the banker or merchant. The new banker will be mine today. The merchant sometime before they go away.

They can program you collecting 4 feathers and popping a mount then collecting 4 Berries to remove that mount and putting another one in your collections.

There is no technical reason why they couldn't just put an item in the Crown store that you would use and give you the new assistants and remove the old ones so reskins ARE possible.

Now they could also sell another item in the Crown store at a discount (3k Crowns for example) that would give you the corresponding assistant IF you already have the old versions.

I'm just writing this in case someone tries to pretend it is not possible...
