I like Rimmen, but Alinor is still Queen of Convenience.

    What an incredibly personal question.

Welcome to Elsweyr, land of Rimmen and roar!

I like the town because it's compact and because you can enter/exit the freebie house without having to do it via the tavern. One less loading screen, yay!

I love Rimmen and have parked all my characters there now. I used to park them in Vivec, but if I had to hear 'Switch in 1... 2... 3...' one more time I was going to go more insane than I already am! Besides, Rimmen has more cats! :D
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I love it, not least because the marketplace / bazaar looks and feels like a marketplace / bazaar rather than a ode to player efficiency. It's less convenient for crafting, sure, but I'll take that over the Alinor / Vivec racetracks any day.

Edit: Added a pic for comparison - left is OG Khajiit right is Elsweyr. The style is still good, but the colours are far worse imo. If I had to guess which one was a capital and which one a backwater town, I wouldn't guess that the right is supposed to be the opulent and comfortable heart of the Khajiiti empire.

Your image isn't showing up for me. I'll check in person-- well, toon-- at 5AM-ish.

This city has everything and the best layout in the game IMO! Writs, crafting stations, a bank, guild stores, a respec shrine and even a RP tavern! lol Everything is conveniently laid out and I save a ton of time doing writs here. Rimmen is like Rawl, Mournhold, Eldenroot, Vivec City and Riften all in one! I left Rawl and mained Rimmen now. The city is very well designed and worth the price of the expansion pack for me considering I only have to spend 30 mins a day on writs instead of 45 mins, well worth the money!

I think Alinor is better for writs.

    But I love Rimmen.

As khajiit main, Rimmen is my new homebase for RP reasons. I love its look. Also, I love new bard songs, and it has bard in the crafting area. For me personally it makes up for inconvenience.

But layout-wise nothing beats Vivec yet. Not only it has banker inside the crafting area, it also has guild traders and stables really close to it.

Idk why both Summerset and Elsweyr went back on pretty perfect setup and want players to run through half the city just to put stuff up on guild trader, check out local guild traders or train mounts on alts.

It's a decent city, but the crafting writ turn in area is way too far away from the main crafting hub

Rimmen itself is nice. The Rimmen Necropolis public dungeon, however, is a major disapointment.

Only thing I liked about it is how the group encounter was placed at the beginning, making even more sense than the poor quest that everyone who knows two bits of lore could see coming the moment they set foot in the place.

The group encounter itself is way too scripted, though, and the dialogue lines make no sense whatsoever. "Let me show you how a true warrior fights !", then proceeds to summon a horde of undead and hides behind them.

And most annoyingly, NOT A SINGLE CONTAINER TO LOOT. Not one. Ever. There are a zillion urns there, and none are lootable. No barrels, no crates, no nothing.

Seriously, who thought that was a good idea ?

They are delicious. Especially if you get the picante pork or creamy chicken. Wait oh the city, not the noodles. Alinor is hands down the best in convenience for doing things daily. Rimmen would have been better as noodles in my opinion.

It was okay, but I found the layout to be a bit too spread-out for my liking. I find Alinor and Vivec City much more convenient in their layouts.

Nice town, but I want my main base in it to be a townhouse.

Instead, what we got was an Inn room (which I like, but it's only a smallish room) and then a gimmicky, larger room with a buzzing disco ball, lasers and portals.

With the latter being further from the centre of town than the inn room.

Then, the only other option in Elsweyr will be a poorly designed, pretty-on-the-outside, disaster-on-the-inside, Crown-only, limited-time-only house, in another town.

    Summerset got housing (more-or-less) right.

OK, the cathedral ("Villa") was a mistake, as it's gorgeous on the outside, but huge, too open plan (being like a church) and clearly unfillable.

But, the inn room and the Townhouse were virtually perfect, in terms of both their position and design.

The Townhouse should have had windows on the ground floor at the front, a basement and a 700 item limit, but other than that, I really can't fault it.

The ideal scenario would have been to add another house in Lillandril, or Shimmerene, or ideally both, as the icing on the cake - but, even without that, it was fine.

Elsweyr, on the other hand, really has got housing all wrong...

Good city with good crafting locations. There’s better looking cities in this zone, but this one is practical. I’ll be around for awhile.
