Why aren’t there brothels in ESO?

It's kind of telling that OP is most concerned about the lack of brothels. Most people in real life have never been in a brothel. But every single person, without exception has been in a BATHROOM.

may be even more telling how many players know where the brothels are located.

    So much telling.

Unfortunately everyone knows there are parents who dont give a crap about that 'M' in the corner of the box and ZOS has to plan around that. We dont want more of that buzzfeed girl who said video games cater to the male fantasy on youtube.

Actually, scientists were teaching monkeys the concept of money. One of the female monkeys started turning tricks. This was at Yale in 2005.

Have you not noticed there's a bowl and a pot on the floor in every bedroom? Or the stool, bucket, and book in a hidden nook in a dungeon? That's bathrooms. Actually pretty accurate, too: bathrooms as we know them didn't exist before the 19th century.

because the devs were trying for a T or teen rating that's why the base game is bland at times

For the same reason there are no children. I consider children obscene.

It's ashame you can't kill them in Skyrim, they should be in ESO and you should be able to kill them. Serves as a stress reliever!

I think there is a mod for Skyrim which makes children killable. And adult mods galore, including some so far out that I'm not sure it's possible to describe it within guidelines of this forum.

We all know that the Skyrim is still a selling title after all those years because it is a *** game now, powered with Nexus mods.

In Pa'lat that is exactly what you see in the mission. It is what you hire for a distraction.

Me, I think there is so much dialogue that has innuendos in them, the most obvious is the Guild Merchants calling out, "It's free to have a look!" But then I am kinda of that kinda of person. You just got to actual listen to what all those npc (particularly the non-mission related bystanders) say.

Would it be interesting to have them? Yeah. I don't see it happening. As others have mentioned, ZOS is based in the USA. Our culture is squeemish about nudity and sexual content, and that's a shame.

    However,

There is nothing stopping someone from making a guild and using personal housing for such things. I imagine one night advertising in Riften would have you booked out for months :smirk:

Partial answer: When the game was made it has a lower age rating. 16+ in Europe and similar ratings in other areas.

The age rating was only raised to 18+ when the Dark Brotherhood was added and it was possible to murder innocents for no reason (not just in DB quests, that's when they added the ability to murder random NPCs). Sure they could have added more mature content after that, but going back over the base game to add it in just because the age rating had gone up probably didn't seem worth anyone's time.

Agreed — this country is crazy. Join the Dark Brotherhood and brutally murder some innocent, okay, but have the option to pay an NPC for implied good times? Oh, no, that is horrible. 🙄 I don’t think that the game benefitted by being able to murder random NPCs, rather disturbing and immersion breaking when people do it out in the open, in the middle of town... Not saying that people shouldn’t be allowed to play villains, just that it should have to be more secretive or face worse consequences IMHO.

To me, it doesn’t make much difference that there are no brothels in ESO, but I see no reason why there should not be, where fitting. As others have pointed out, there were in Morrowind as well as those hapless Nords who had lost their clothing and other belongings... to a witch, yes, lol.

Edit: Reading the comments past the first page now, perhaps there are indeed brothels in Tamriel — I confess one of the inns in Elsweyr did strike me as being something along those lines. I haven’t traveled Tamriel enough yet to know of these other places and was just responding to the statement that there weren’t any. After reading some of the other comments, I do think that innuendo in such matters is more interesting actually. I did enjoy the implied romance/affair with Ahnassi in Morrowind. ;)

Why a brothel, when you have plenty of offers that don't involve the exchange of money?
The first time my wife hear an npc proposition me, she nearly feel out of her chair. (She also plays the game, and it was her first computer game to play). But then a couple minutes later her character got propositioned.

Then there is the guard who tells you to meet later, and she show you an antique riding crop.

This is a mature audience game and what happens in brothels is the oldest profession known to man. So it makes no sense why brothels don’t exist in Tamriel. On top of that it would make for great role playing experience. Please limit your feedback to constructive criticism.

You have never been to Vulkwasten or Riften then... Depending on the time of day it can be be straight up pornography.

Because the kind of player who clamors for this experience in-game is usually someone who can't imagine it in real life without the exchange of money.

Firstly, I do not think ESO needs Brothels. It doesnt even have toilets. We can live without a great deal of the "real world" thanks, Brothels are not exactly high on my list of additions to improve immersion.

2nd, there are quite a few areas and story arcs which basically show prostitution is a thing in ESO, just not for players.

The real question is, why do you need this in the game? You know you can visit pornhub, right? Or, meet an actual gal or guy, depending on how you swing.

there are a few hinted ones, I wish it was a bit more explicit, without it being full on cringy. I trust they could do it allright.
also in general i wish there were some more adult things, including brothels, and more corpses around the world, craglorn has some, including animal corpses more and it's a nice view, seems like a wild and agressive zone I wish we would see hanged people, and dead bandits, other than just skeletons.
