Cancelling your subscription?

So I have basically stopped playing ESO and decided to cancel my sub. This I have found to be impossible. I don't know if ESO is just making this as hard as possible or if they have created a process that will allow them to continue billing people for an extra month or more?

So after digging around in the support area of the ESO site I found this:

PC/Mac accounts

To cancel your ESO Plus membership on a PC/Mac account you should follow these steps:

Log into the ESO account here: account.elderscrollsonline.com.
Select Manage Membership under the "My Account" section at the left-hand side.
Select Cancel Membership and confirm by clicking Please cancel my membership.
A banner will appear at the top of the page to confirm that the recurring membership is no longer active.
Note that the Account ESO Plus status changed to "Cancelled."
When completed, an e-mail from The Elder Scrolls Online will arrive, confirming the cancellation..

So then I go to the account link. I log in and suprise suprise there is no Manage Membership link to select!

These are the links available:

My Account

Edit Account Info
Marketing Preferences
Change Password
Update Security Question
Linked Accounts
Billing History
Redeem Code

NO MANAGE MEMBERSHIP LINK!!!!!

I was reduced to putting in a support ticket explaining why I want to cancel my subscription. Disgusting to say the least.

I am calling out ESO and Bethesda for this soft scam. It is making what should be an easy process into an impossible one. I have submitted a ticket and I await your reply. If another payment is removed from my account please realise that this is being done without my permission.

Well, I'm looking at mine right now.

On the Account page, there is a gold rectangular button that says Manage membership, right next to the Download button

I hit that, came to a page that has a couple options with Dots next to them

on the left, Change your recurring memberhip

    on the right Cancel membership

    just click on the Dot

Not sure what the issue you are having is

Edit: The Manage Membership button is to the right of the list you mentioned

I just tested this, and went to the main website. Top left menu has "Account", clicking on that and logging in (with game account, not forum account) led to a list of options on the left which included "Manage Membership". Clicking on that led to two options - "Change recurring membership" and "Cancel membership".

Are you using Steam? If so, you can manage your subs through the account interface in the Steam client. It's a little link off to the side of your Account Details page under the Store & Purchase History section.

Coulda just came on and asked if anyone knew where the manage account was.

I cannot get the damm image to work here sorry. As you can see there is NO Manage Membership button for me and before everyone starts saying that I do not have a subscription...I do. They take the cash. Simple as that!

Blind? No. I see what you see on the image I posted above. There is NO HUGE GOLDEN BUTTON and that link you posted takes me to the same page as what is posted in the image I posted above.

If you are playing through steam it should be under account details, subcriptions

What platform do you play on? One of the consoles?
Because that pic you posted shows that you don't have a PC account; if you did, there wouldn't be a "Buy the Game" button, and the "Manage Your Membership" options would be there.

Well I only have the one account. I don't play through Steam. I play on PC and have never played on any other platform. I have been through every part of the support website only to be sent through loops and end up with the same result.

I used to be able to access all my account and payment details but as lordrichter states...it looks like there is no purchase linked to the account. But the money is still coming out and I have never tried cancelling the account before.

    Frustrating to say the least.

According to your image, That account has not purchased the game yet.

Do you have another account that has the game on it?

How did you start the subscription without purchasing the game?

That image does not even have a way for you to start a subscription

They Can't charge you anything for This account because This account does not have a subscription tied to it.

You need to find out which email account They have tied to a subscription and use That email to try and bring up the actual game information.

@Donatelllo In case you've got more than one email, have you tried logging in with a different email? A friend registered with an older email when the game launched and changed that later. He once mentioned that he could still log in with both emails.

Can you presently log into the game?

You are using your UserID to log into the account, correct? Not an email?

Try another email... I have like 4, I use for different things. I was on my business account when I signed up, didn't think about it. I had to change it over to my 'personal' account... ok not had to but I like keeping things separate, for tax purposes, could you imagine what the IRS would think of an MMO as an Intertainment expense?

That's weird, because mine shows that I have purchases, states I have an ESO plus membership thru Steam. Plus it shows the PTS as well.

When I go to billing history, my page says, "You have not made any purchases." Probably because I made them thru Steam.

OP, are you using an ad blocker of some kind on your browser?

It's a bit weird. You are using a userID that was registered, but that particular userID was not used to purchase the game

at least, according to the screenshot.

I have two accounts on this one computer. But you have to actually buy the game for both accounts in order for both of them to work.

What this looks like is the reverse. Once you buy the game, it's yours to keep. Even if you uninstall it, it can simply be re-installed for no charge.

Did you uninstall the game already?

OK, I just made a new account. I enjoy the game, may want to start from scratch at some point.

The screenshot you show is exactly what you get after confirming the email and they activate the account.

Nothing yet has happened with that UserID, as far as buying anything.

If you have a subscription, it is not on that UserID.

    Hey there,

While ZOS may have many, many issues with the game, their support team have been really good at resolving any account related issues I have had.

Maybe try and contact them to see if they can help.

    You're on the wrong account.

The website uses the same coding for every account. It's not suddenly changed on your account in some nefarious plan to keep you from cancelling your sub.

Just checked mine and in the bottom right of the screen there is a HUGE gold rectangular button that says "MANAGE MEMBERSHIP"

You obviously have made an error somewhere. ZOS did not come to work this morning and say "Hey let's remove some buttons from random member's accounts"

Calm down, stop with the ranting and be reasonable.

Just make sure you are logging into the account page with the same UserID and password that you use to log into the game, if that doesn't address the problem then you'll need to look to Support to sort it for you. You could also post this on the General Help forum as that covers account issues and has a high rate of ZOS responses.
