I read somewhere that 1 American cup (8 fluid ounces) = 240 mL <--- do you capitalize the L? Dunno Trying to covert recipes back and forth between systems is weirdly entertaining. It also makes shopping fun.
Woopsie-- the measurement depends on what you're using. My big 2 cup measuring cups say approx 240-245, while my single cup has 250 written on it. Aaargh

Google says 1 US Cup = 236.58ml
I know, I live in the U.S. and I'm starting to really get tired of having not been raised with Metric.

But seriously, brave attempt. Where did you gather the info that this is intended to be some sort of muffin? It rather reminds me of a tarte flambee.

Heh, this dumb American finds the metric system really confusing But if the recipe is all one set of measurements, you can usually puzzle it out. I've come across some weird hybrids where dry goods are measured in metric units, but liquids are in cups and tablespoons. Those are fun Still, it would be nice to convert to metric. At least we'd all be using the same cookware.

It's correct to write millilitre ml or mL

The metric system has been legal to use in the US since 1866, which makes the US one of the first countries outside of French-occupied Europe (and those nations' colonies overseas) to do so if I remember correctly. The US federal government's survey agency had been using a prototype meter for about 50 years at that point. After the Mendenhall Order of 1893, the metric system has been the basis for all measurements in the US -- all US customary units are defined in terms of their metric equivalents. When you see the maps that show the US as the only place in the world that doesn't use metric, it's a lie. The US has been officially dual-use for over 150 years.
Anyways, who measures things down to a gnat's whiskers when they're cooking? I just eyeball it. Turns out fine, most times.
oh that is awesome! also from everything i hear from professional bakers - the key to good consistent results is apparently measuring dry ingredients by weight rather then volume. just to confuse things even further :P
