Read the book below and get a rough idea about how much it takes to raise a single skeleton/zombie in the lore

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Corpse_Preparation#Volume_Two:_The_Skeletal_Corpse

If you wanna talk about game mechanics instead of lore then dont give Skyrim or any other game as an example

If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

How do you miss the point that much?

“Like in the lore of the game”?

What the actual fudge are you talking about?

In each of last 3 TES games (Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim... I haven’t checked the others) Conjuration spells were all timed. Permanent armies of anything have not been a thing.

Actually that is not true, you could use Star of Azura to make them a permanent summon for the constant effect

Excellent point. Now which one person in the whole game would you choose to make use of this unique Daedric artifact? If this was added to Cyrodiil as a Volendrung style addition then I wouldn't mind it at all.
well actualy in Skyrim you could have 2 permament revived pet. It is overpowered also. Especialy on DW toon with double enchant.

I've actually tracked down one, the Dead Thrall spell taught to you by the College of Winterhold at Conjuration 90. So, so far we've turned the Necromancer from a temp summoner to (at max level) a copy of every other pet class. Maybe the second summon would do something novel, what was the other one?

After reading through all the post, I'll say I understand how those who want permanent pets/undead army feel. But an army of pets is a bit extreme.

I have a couple main gripes with this "necromancer" class. First is.....

    -Gripe 1# Duration-
I think the durantion could be longer in ESO. 15 SECS is just pitiful. The older Elder Scrolls game had better durations.

    Examples are -
*Morrowind Summon Skeletal minion 60 secs.
(Special note) Creating a summon spell and soul trap spell allowed you to create a permanent pet.
*Oblivion Summon Skeleton Guardian 40 secs.
*Skyrim Raise Zombie and Summon Boneman both 60 secs.
SOLUTION...make the duration longer, and if you need a corpse asap...allow us to unsummon it after a short duration. Allow us to summon them for 60 secs....or at LEAST 30 secs.

    -Gripe #2 Different Undead Types-
We can only summon a skeletons. Why? Looking for a lore and game mechanics reason. Why no zombies? MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. The zombie and skeleton models are in game already. (Zombie skins FTW)
Plus npc necromancers don't need to perform a ritual to summon a zombie. A wave of their hand and a zombie crawls from the ground to attack you. And all this talk about we being new necromancers is hog wash. By the time I finish the main quest, Morrowind, and Summerset, I am no longer a fresh faced Necromancer. I should be a walking, death dealing, zombie summoning for more than 15 secs, bad (shut yo mouth).
SOLUTION...allow us to summon zombies from fresh fallen undead npcs. You kill an orc, you can summon an undead orc from that corpse. Or just rotate from skeleton to zombie as we summon....spice it up.

-Gripe #3 Lack of Melee pets-
WHY WE NO HAVE MELEE PETS....Ok...but seriously though. Lack of melee skeletons is a huge disappoint. As I primarily plan to play a magcro, I'm going to be casting spells from a far. Having a melee minion up in my opponent's face while I'm throwing flaming skulls from afar just makes sense. Look at past Elder Scrolls games. Summoners, counjerers, and necromancers summon melee pets and then back up while throwing spells. Who's bright idea was it to make them summon mages.....for a mage like character?
SOLUTION..allow the magic morph to summon a melee skeleton instead of a mage. Allow the skeleton to do magic or fire damage with said sword to take advantage of our magic scaling...similar to the magic morph of the warden bear.

I believe if the devs fixed these things, a lot of the complaining will go away...(not all but some). This way we get slightly longer duration on pets, more variety in undead (zombies and melee pets) and we would feel like we are actually summoning a minion to do our bidding instead of how it is now which is nothing but a glorified dot.

Im not sure if I understand your question but yes, its basicaly death thrall spell with perk into twin soul. Give weapons to the dead bodies and watch them clearing the way.

Either go the illusion route and buff them and spam frenzy or go the melee way and jump in the fight with them.

I think they did just fine with what they had. Lots of things to take into consideration you already have one class that can have two pets up along with a non combat pet, another class that as a pet ult., then those running around with non combat pets. I'm sure just those reasons alone can bog down a server, not to mention that the whole Necro class is illegal in town and around people(npcs).

I think what they have done with the necro class is great, from watching youtube videos I wouldn't be surprised in next week or so going to be nerfs on it. But over all what I have seen I think the done pretty damn good and I am happy with the class.

making them morrowind themed and giving them a bear 🐻
where as mobs can summon senches, wolves and all the cool stuff
and we are stuck with 1 brown and 1 white bear.
Oh yeah and dont tell me I dont know LORE

I always found the pets incredibly annoying when in towns.
So I am glad they decided to make the Necro pets temporary.
Although, since we will have a system where casting necro skills in towns will give bounty, if they made it so that having active necro pets in town would also give bounty. "Forcing" people to remove them while in towns, then maybe I could accept perma necro pets.
But not an army of them, oh no. Think of the lag that would cause. Hundreds of necros running around with several pets following them.

For those complaining...did you hop on the PTS & try the skills? I like the animations & feel of the class. I made a tank & a Magicka DPS and they are quite fun to play.

It would be fun to dish out, but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a skeleton zerg.

    Also, I said it elsewhere:
The way I see it... raising a undead "quick and dirty" comes with a price - of limited duration. That's the combat skill. And its the same for NPC necromancers who raise something to throw at you in combat, it does not stick around past their demise.

There obviously is some way to raise a undead on a more permanent basis, likely requiring a ritual and stuff... but that is all NPC domain at this point.

Although, if you were to play a necro, and have some friends... ask them to make alts named "skeletal minion" or something along those lines, put on undead polymorphs and play as your skeleton army? It'd be worth a giggle or two, yes? :p;)
Of course, then it could happen that your "skeletal minions" go like...
    XM3v.gif
...when a zerg comes your way! :p:trollface:
