It's really interesting that a lot of people think that PvPers are all competitive. I'm not really a competitive person, actually. Never have been. But I love PvP.

I think some of you need to see pvp for yourselves instead of watching from the POV of certain live streamers. Not naming names but most of the top ones are competitive, however outside of their collective circles most of us are pretty casual about it.

Tell that to the players who tried to do dailies in Cyrodiil only to be killed while unable to do anything during loading into the building with the quest NPC. By siege weapons used indoors, at that.

I consider the PvP environment a smelly cesspit, awakening the worst and most evil (literally evil) parts of human minds, because PvP apparently means one can behave as a total jerk and use all available exploits, and it is fine, because it is PvP, so it doesn't count, you know?

I don't think PVE players actually hate PVP as long as they can simply ignore it, but I think some do have issues with grinding skills in PVP to use in PVE, and the rebalancing of skills from the PVP perspective. There are probably more PVE players than PVP, but most of them play casually and are nonchalant about such things.

The reverse is also true, since there'd been some vocal PVPers about needing to grind skill points and level up Mage's, Fighter's, Undaunted, Psijic skill lines.

However, I think the dissatisfaction is more skewed towards PVPers since they are forced to do more PVE to improve their characters, where for most PVErs it's more subjective as they can choose to totally ignore PVP.

Until they are told they simply must have Caltrops slotted to be allowed to join a group to do some of the endgame content.

or purge/warhorn. try tanking or healing anything beyond normal modes without those 2. that said, getting those is easy nowadays, since you don't even have to win battlegrounds to get enough AP, just participate in some fashion.
    dirty worthless casual.
Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself. Guard your honor. Let your reputation fall where it will. And outlive the ***

For a lot of players, it is about the attitudes of certain vocal PVPers. Also, many PVE players do PVP and have fun.

That takes 2-3 hours of zerg surfing in Cyro... Such an effort.

There are a lot of nice people in PVP. They just tend to be quieter and not grief others.

I'll be completely honest, that event was a gas tanker colliding into a burning building. I can only hope ZoS doesn't repeat the mistake of combining the two things in such a way again. It gave the rest of us an even worse name even those of us who just stayed well enough away from those cesspools of griefing and wanted nothing to do with it.

No disagreement here. There are a lot of nice people in our guild who do PvP, however, the prospect of meeting the other end of the PvP community's spectrum acts as a 100% effective deterrent to me. :|

I've played this game for a few years now and had never ventured into Cyradiil until last week when I realized how much I needed Vigor for my Nightblade. I wasn't optimized at all for PVP and got massacred pretty easily in close combat but I was still surprised at how much I enjoyed my time there. Once I discovered how much fun siege weapons were, or raining arrows down on the enemy as they attempted to breach our walls, I started really enjoying the large scale conflicts where it felt like everyone actually mattered.

It's actually convinced me to create a PVP-orientated character and head back there.

    Hate for PvP

Stupidly steep learning curve - PvP requires a largely different set of abilities and skills than PvE
Massive complication in respeccing PvE characters for PvP (you need to change gear, cp and often skills as your PvE kit is a significant disadvantage). I pity console players who don’t have access to add ons like dressing room. There should be a system that enables players to have a PvE and PvP build for each of their characters
Tedious, repetitive combat as keeps are turned over on repeat and the apparent way to succeed is to ‘follow the zerg ‘
Useless BG grouping system that is more likely to give you a 20 minute wait followed by a 20 minute ‘deserter’ penalty (another blame the player not the game mechanic for ZOS) than actually result in a BG
Useless BG grouping system that doesn’t allow you to choose the map you want to play on so most of your initial games are spent learning maps and dying, which isn’t a great experience
Useless BG grouping system that doesn’t effectively match preformed groups appropriately
Putting PvE objectives into a PvP zone - creating unpleasant experiences for PvE players is not going to encourage them to take up PvP (see also PvP players in vet dungeons)
It takes 1 ganker to really put someone off PvP altogether

Topped up by a truly unpleasant bullying atmosphere here on the forums.

    Love for PvP
When I am in the mood (very rarely), sneaking around Cyrodiil is stupidly exciting - on a sneaky level it makes the Thieves Guild quests look rubbish
Doing Imperial City during Midyear Mayhem was great fun
Doing PvP means you come back to PvE with a totally different, more focussed perspective
Doing PvP with a group of competent other PvPers is a completely different experience for new-to-PvP players

I’m hoping that the new guild finder tool will encourage PvP guilds to seek out new players and help new-to-PvP players to find those guilds that want to help players make that jump into PvP

*** aside, it’s clear that PvP can be really fun, so anything that can be done to help ease people into it should be encouraged.
