Taking a PvE build into Cyrodiil: Is this to be expected? (Not a complaint)

Thank you for the insight guys. It's all very good to know.

The lesson learnt from a mistake is worth 100 successes if you listen properly.

awwww right on, if there's anything we can do to help out, please let us know...

sadly some of the more antagonistic personalities get highlighted in pvp play, but, the truth is we are very much a close community - whether you are fighting with or against someone...

at the end of the day, we really do need one another...

    I need targets 😆

As others have said....you will die a lot. And the sad part...at the beginning, gear does not really help. you can have the best PVP setup and you will still die a lot.
You just have to know when to be where and what to do then. This just takes time. But you said you don´t mind dying a lot...that´s a good attitude to learn fast.

So if you've ever played WoW back in the day, there used to be a stat that all PVP gear had called "resilience". If you PVP'd without that stat, you got hit HARD even with PVE gear. In ESO Crit Resistance sort of takes the same place, and without it, when you get critted, you get critted for the full amount because you have nothing to lower the damage. So you will get hit HARD, which results in you dying in seconds.

PVE builds revolve around highest damage per second over a 5-10 minute fight (or so). They only have enough health to survive one shot mechanics, and bosses do NOT crit, so you don't run any crit resistance. PVP is a different story, we don't care about DPS over an extended fight, we care about how much burst we can do using a combination of abilities within the course of 3-5 seconds or shorter. We also care about surviving that burst from other players, so staying alive and surviving is the most important thing.

War of attrition is the name of the game. The only time a PVE build would work is if it is for a high burst combo setup, where you know you won't be the focus, so in a large group setting like in Cyrodiil, it would *work*, but may not be optimal. Some bomb builds essentially run a PVE-like setup in terms of their gear traits (divines), but are so squishy, that if they get hit, they are dead. That is why they call them "Glass-Canon" builds...they can hit like a canon, but are made of figurative glass...sneezing on them would almost kill them.

That's an excellent run-down, and helps a lot in understanding why crit' resistance is important.

    Thank you. o7
