The Sunspire Skin... Lazy Game design, a combination of Crystalfrost and Meridian Purified?

The sunspire skin as we’ve all seen is a combination of crystalfrost and meridian purified. If you wear armour over it you’re essentially wearing crystalfrost.

Is this lazy game design? Up until now trial skins were worth working towards and progging/working on vet trial mechs with a team towards a shiny skin was a nice reward.

Does anyone actually like the Sunspire Skin enough to do that?

Yeah I'm really disappointed with both the skin and the mount. For as hard as I'm going to work for that mount, I'd prefer something other than a recolor of an existing mount/skin. The model itself should be unique, not just Senche #3247, which I'll show off once or twice if we manage to get the achieve and then never use it again. A different skin for completing hardmode for all of the bosses would be a really welcome addition.

I think as a lot of people were hoping for something to match Nahviintas, a gold skin as we’ve had Bronze and silver, this is a bit of a let down.
The biggest issue is that if you wear Sabatons, greaves and gauntlets you may as well have Crystalfrost on. If ZoS play with the texture a bit and maybe give it a “two face” effect it even that would be an improvement.

Much like the vAS skin is virtually the same as the vHoF skin in a different color and without patches. And much like the vCR skin is a purple Spikerkith. But this one is exceptionally ugly though, can barely see your character's face with it.

I'd say that was obvious from the Moment of the Nuclear Prune that is VCR HM skin.

I actually agree that I do not like the skin. Hoping they do something about it.

I think the last two skins worth grabbing were Maw and Cloudrest skins. They were incredibly unique and distinctive - that's what a trophy should be. The skins represented a feat achieved and often inspired others to earn that reward as well.

Sunspire should have had dragonic skin and perhaps burning eyes and feet. Maybe also add a Personality that gives the player a unique dragon roar emote that would pair well with the skin.... C'mon ZoS, you're better than this. I've spent several thousand hours in this game and I KNOW you are capable of great stuff because I've seen it before in the game - don't get lazy.

Id prefer unique weapon or armor style from trials hardmode rewards rather than a skin since aside from the ugly faces we never see the skins unless your running the generic epeen costume combo nord bather towel, pirate outfit, and graht wear climber, dark shaman meta plus whatever skin is the new fashion sense this quarter..

Well, combinations can be fun sometimes. If they would make Meridia skin and simply recolor (like they did with red spiderkith recolored into purple ebony skin) yellow glowing color to red creepy colors - I would happily buy such skin in crownstore. Maybe it cheap move but sometimes even such simple act can drastically change perception of skin.

crown store gets the best skins, rewards get the "meh" skins... it is known

For me the best looking skin so far is the one which has been moved from the in-game achievements to the crown store: the blood forge skin. After that, 2nd MoL skin and 3rd Cloudrest skin.

it is what it is I suppose...I still haven't earned vCR+3 skin so I'm sure ill be super late to this new hybrid sunspire skin as well. The mount with this skin would be kinda cool though...I'm sure Hodor will let us know what it looks like in game once they obtain it in a few weeks.
