dark flare nerf confusions

why wasnt crystal frags nerfed? can easily achieve the same TT as dark flare, then on top of dark flare you get a shwanky buff to and instant cast version of frags...why?
why do templar have to take the nerfmaul again? wasnt this patch supposed to be according to your words a "consistency pass"? so why isnt frags nerfed?

i don't want frags nerfed...i'm hoping that by bringing up this oversight, zeni will abandon the flare/ wrecking blow/ snipe "consistency pass"

it's out of line, doesnt change the time the skill takes to leave ur hands...it's completely unwarranted...

i make a build thats against the grain, a blast to play, a glass magplar in PVP. you take the tools i have (dark flare, which most magplar write off as too easy to counter and don't slot it) and make it work. my skill shines with the build: "you better counter this or you will be punished", many invite me to duels thinking they "got this"...and die. its a "hardmode" magplar playstyle solo cyrodiil, many are to weak of heart to run it...i want to be rewarded for attempting to bring my magplar into cyrodiil as a glass build, rewarded with damage and high tooltips...and i feel punished.

three damage sets and dying to a fart in the wind is supposed to be the tradeoff...wheres my trade off? so now i'm not allowed to have any damage ranged unless i play like every other ranged magplar? ah...imbue weapons...so unique!, puncturing sweeps, so unique!

it's almost like you WANT every magplar in the game to run tanky, irritating blockbots. mistforming around trees and rocks...you gonna nerf mist form next?

it's almost like you find out that some templar is playing against the "meta" and you have an in house meeting: "heard about that new dark flare build people have been playing? yeah...whelp...can't have that, lets take dark flare and toss it in the garbage with sun shield...damn blazing tanks..."

i have a wish
and it's a terrible wish...but one that i and MANY magplar mains have...just forget we exsist...yeah?
we've been asking for buffs for years. but no more, not from me, not from many of the "greats" of eso PvP, not from anyone but the new templars who don't understand youre hatred for them. we're done, in return...just please, stop changing *** with magplar...you're killing us off

Edit: I'm not even going to talk about total dark and why we shouldn't be excited for toppling charge...its just too exhausting

    Yup @Baconlad ... Can't agree more. I just don't understand the nerf. All because" now you can cast it more" ... No one runs dark flare PvE dps build besides for lulz. In PvP, its only good when the caster sacrifices survivability to make it hit hard. Even then one must "cast with caution" due to the fact that its an interrupt-able ability with a long cast time.

    ZoS needs to:
    A) leave the ability as is(best way to not screw up anything else)
    B ) make the ability hit for less dmg, but make the ability an instant cast. Drop major for minor defile.
    C) make the ability undodgeable and decrease dmg, also gain major/minor protection while channeling, still interruptable
    D) make the ability act just like solar barrage but instead it effects major defile for enemies within the aoe, no empowerment
    E)Attach "blinding light to ability", basically keep as proposed by devs but add in "when cast, if interrupted ability blinds enemy who interrupted caster for 3 seconds".
    F) make the flares do FIRE DAMAGE!!! reduce dmg to compensate(Im so sick of "Holy Fire" not being fire...)

    lets hope for the best...

    this statement also applies to total dark.

    and @UppGRAYxDD no....nonononono. do not make it fire damage. thats a major issue with magic type damages in this game! ou have to choose between too many effects damage types. like all of magplar skills are magic...so i slot warmaiden, but zeni nerfs DW into the group for mag...meaning fire staff, which isnt magic damage...it's fire damage. so no, i'd rather them leave it as magic. otherwise i'd have to choose between buffing things like soul assualt, or dark flare...so no

    i do not want them to make it instant cast. that would be ruining a defining playstyle of templar, cast times and channels.
    they could make it so that it become a channel instead of a cast time, firing one flare every .2 seconds for 1 second, making each flare deal dramatically less damage than the one does now.

    TBH the multiple flares is my best bet. i think that would be the most fun. also makes keep it consistent with the channel cast time vibe i love from magplar so much.

    at the core...players need to remember than this skill has ALWAYS been a mass damage skill. and IMO it needs to stay that way. it is ironic that the hardest hitting ability by FAR magplar has is being stripped for zero reason

    Its not like its widely used on live right now :smiley:

    I wouldnt mind some sort of proc system for it, but at the same time, id rather have them fix/buff backlash and make dark flare something else.

    This goes beyond "my build". The dark flare nerf is another piece of evidence that the devs are homogenizing the combat. The game has always been touted as one in which you can have multiple playstyles set apart from simply equiping different gear sets. But that seems to be changing...very slowly.

    I believe mainly magplar (although magsorc magblade and magDK have also fallen victim of) has been hammered out into a specific style of play for PvP. They seem to want all magplar to use lightning staff, light armor and play as a semi ranged semi melee playstyle. They have completely removed magplar playstyles such as blazing shield builds. And now dark flare builds.

    I am going to adapt, I'll continue to sub, I'll keep playing magplar. I love the game. I am entitled to my opinion. There's nothing wrong with being peeved that my class is becomming pigeon holed into cookie cutter playstyles.

    Also, snipe isn't an issue. Atleast the damage isn't, the main issue with snipe (and dark flare IMO) is defile. It shouldn't be so easy to get. The damage on a fully damage specced toon has always been meh. It's also only really an issue on stamblades, when was the last time you died to a stamplar ganking with snipe? Personally I'd rather they just leave the damage alone with snipe. The skill has always hit poorly on "balanced" stamina setups, and dark flare was no different. A meta magplar build running dark flare wouldn't spam it for damage, it was for a good opener and 6 seconds of defile, and those who used it that way will continue to use it. Those who used it like I did cannot use it. They've successfully killed an playstyle centered around building glass and winning solo fights through superior burst and pressure. Should we not be rewarded for building that way?

    It should just be AOE defile without empower. Having to fight snb builds with easy access to defile is annoying when my defile requires a cast time lol.

    Roflmao...there it is folks.

    Mist form took a nerf, canceling mist form to be able to sprint and get the major expedition was nerfed.

    They did decrease cost though...anyway I called it.

    im used to play such build before dark flare got nerf, and i liked it, exactly by reasons u told about, rewarding but unforgiving at same time, i don't like to play tanky builds and i hate jabs, so im not playing pvp on my main anymore, deconed war maiden and soulshine sets
