Good Selfish HP Tank Armor Set?

nator316
nator316
Soul Shriven
I mean not just good for normal Dungeons but for Vet and Trials, etc

I checked this thread

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/452987/good-for-a-tank

But players told the OP he was Overgeared but at same time useless in everything except Dungeons.

Why and how can I fix his build, I’m good with Stats and CP just searching for a good armor set I’m 3/2 Stamina Magicka build Altmer.

Currently lv 5 but looking for something to wear at 10-50

and then something at Endgame.

Thank you, any comment is great for me to learn.

For low level tanking, you can wear pretty much whatever heavy armor you want as long as its close to your level. When I level up by running dungeons, I tend to replace my gear with the dropped gear, so I wind up with a mishmash of sets but my gear is close to my level.

The old high health tanks used to run Plague Doctor and Green Pact.

For trials, most groups will want you to run sets that support the group as a whole. Ebon Armory is a good set to start with.

Your level is too low to worry about farming gear for vet dungeons. Wait until you hit CP 160+ for that. Everything you get now will be totally useless once you hit that mark.

What you can do until then is figure out the skills you need to level for tanking, but level them as a DPS right now. I would respec as a Stamina DD, wear a full set of medium training gear, but run S&B for weapons to level up those skills. It will go a lot faster than if you try to level everything as a tank, especially the low levels of DPS you will be putting out from Level 1-50. Once you hit the desired level, respec as a tank and run the content you want.

Gear varies on content. I like to run selfish sets if I'm tanking dungeon PUG runs for my own sanity. I run group buff gear in trials and with guild dungeon runs. In trials, the main tank and off tank tend to coordinate gear sets so the group gets the best of all worlds.

For someone just starting out tanking, Plague Doctor is great, as @VaranisArano said. I also got a full set of Knight Errant that I played around with when I was trying to figure things out. Selfish and gave weapon damage so I could play around in dungeons and overland.

As others have said, it’s hard to get a true build before co 160 because you keep out leveling your gear.

But for later thought, with the exception of going past 33k resists, there is no such thing as over geared. If you can have 400k health, that is good.

The question is what did you give up to get your stats? Did you choose gear that does nothing for the team? Did you leave your magicka and stamina at 10k so there is no chance of you doing your job?

If you are at 80k health but you can’t do crap other than survive, that is bad. But....(and this is the point of my post) if you have the resource pools up, if you have all the tanking tools, if you have gear to help your team, THEN be as big and scary and tanky as you can get! Get your health and resists as high as you can possibly get them!!! There is no penalty for being so stout the creatures tickle. Don’t buy into the notion that you are suppose to see how scrawny you can get as a tank. Don’t listen when they pick on you for health going above 35k. Be a TANK.

I have more than 33k resist using Chudan, and Plague doctor. I use Black rose(all heavy) for free resources by exploiting the constitution passives. I also have equilibrium for restoring magicka because of 42k+ base health. My lazy pug tank.

I wouldn't worry about any builds or sets before CP 160.

You need to spend your time leveling all the skills you need to tank later. Which is quite alot. (theres alot of skills everywhere that are useful)

Just go through them and try get them all morphed and ready before you cp 160.

Following a build is a bad idea because there are many situational skills you will want to use.

The 10-50 gear will be completely different from the endgame tank gear.

First, you don't want tank gear at all until you reach level 50 (or preferably CP160) as you need to do the solo material before the dungeons. You can't take an Undaunted pledge until L45, although you can freelance earlier. Level up as DPS/generic, and specialise to tank later.

You'll find that the need for health plateaus off, and you'll add sustain for the stamina/magicka requirements of the group support abilities. It's likely that you'll re-spec your attributes at some point, too.
